anti, what camera/lens do you use?

those pictures are beautiful, and so crisp and clear.

anti, how do you get that special look to your shots? Do you mess around with them in photoshop?

By special i mean the way it looks. Some cameras take pictures and it looks as if you just took a still show of what the eye would see. your photos seem like they're "softer" or "clay-like" (not the right word, but it describes the softness to it). How do you get the soft look without a blurry texture? Do you mess around with them in PS or do you mess around with the gajillion settings on your Nikon?

i know exactly waht you mean beacuse ive been trying to figure it out myself. its one of my main beefs with shooting digital, everything comes out too "nice" while film shots always have a raw feeling to them. theres a few ways, one is to focus on the object and step back a tiny tiny bit, like miniscual (sp) just so it throws it off enough to get that softer appeal. i've given up on using any sharpening in photoshop which i used to do out of habit. i add a bit of burning around the edges when the situation is right.

I don't know anything about photography. I took these two summers ago in northern Michigan when i was there with some friends. I took the shots with a piece of shit 2mp Fuji camera that I've had for 3 or 4 years and dropped several times.

I don't know if these are anything special, but I've always really liked the last shot. I didn't do anything to these really other than crop and matte them in photoshop. I adjusted contrast on a few, but thats it.

I think the first and last are great. I wonder how the last would look in B&W...

I wonder how the first would look with everything but the yellow on the flowers being black and white.

I also like the first and last, i think the second would be really good with a better camera though. Looks like a really nice shot though.

The last one would look really cool if you added some more contrast.
