There is ethanol, made from corn. Works good but expensive. Until the world decides that fossil fuels are too dirty or too scarce to use, there will be no viable substitutes. Its all about money.

How about we finish working on hydrogen powered cars and start churning them out? saw some shit on CNN about hydrogen power cars, sounds uber.
