I mean, this is worse than the Xbox 360 Finger Cappin' commercial. At least that one had some loose association with gaming, and had the whole 'social aspect: everyone is playing' feel to it, and it made you reminisce, like 'Ahh, remember the days when we had imaginations?' Doesn't matter anyway, MGS4 is going to sell the PS3 single-handedly. Actually if I was Sony I would have talked to Kojima and tried to get him to advertise for the PS3's release.
