how can it be justified that he has to pay taxes on a ball if he doesn't sell it? That's like saying everyone who owns signed memorabilia must pay extra in taxes because it might go up in value one day if they sell it.

yeah im a finance major too. I trade mostly pennies and sub pennies and equity penny options (rarely).
