Yeah. The mixture of ignorance, irrelevance and penis envy made for a spectacular gala, Socrates.

Irrelevency. Our systems of government and law adapted from Greek, Roman and British principles, are still accepted as the general template for economic and militaristic success
Our attitudes and styles are adopted in every corner of the planet. There's a few wiggas in Europe but I doubt many people in Russia, South America or Asia care too much about the latest series of friends.
Ignorance. There has only been one artist considered amongst the top ten most successful in the last decade that was not a chart topper in the United States, that was Kylie Minogue. Blockbuster movies are defined by their success or failure in America. Practically every entertainment sect is extremely influenced by American culture.
Our troops march arcoss the planet as one of the most respected and feared armies in the world. technologically perhaps, but they are far from infallible & still got beaten by a buncha NVA with AK47s & black pyjamas
Ignorance again. We stomped the shit out of the NVA/VC - killing them at a ratio of approximately 15 to 1. We also never lost a major conflict in the Vietnamese War. Do some research before you speak.
Our language is taught in more countries than any other. Your language is English, that is my language not yours.
As I said before, English may belong to the Brits, but America made it the world standard.
Our culture and lifestyle is the embodiment of wealth and prosperity. Scandinavia has a higher health & age rate
Where did he mention our health or age span? He said wealth and prosperity. Does your country have a higher GDP? Didn't think so.
Consider this: At the height of its power Rome had 120 million people within its borders. Bringing those peoples cultures and traditions into itself and including them into Romes culture. No place on earth has such a thing ever hapened on such a grand scale until the late 1700s, and what is today the US. The British Empire was bigger
Unlike the British, and like the Romans, we assimilated culture and created a culture that was unique in its diversity.
Here is anouther interesting similarity: The Roman empire developed the most complex and diverse tradding network on the planet. They did not grow most of there own food, they had to have it imported. The US has done the same thing. So did Germany & Britain
Again with the irrelevency. US: I have a pretty big penis. -- Britain: Mine used to be big, but it never really recovered after you soccer kicked me in the balls. -- Germany: Vee had a big penis... until you all ganged up and chopped it off.
Our language, our numbers, our money, even our government is based on Rome. Like Rome we have had our Civil War based on government power and economic structure. So did England, & Rome was based on Greek civilisation
Again, what the fuck is the point of this statement? He was drawing parallels between the United States and Rome. He didn't say we were the first to be similar.
Like Rome we see ourselves as the saviors of Earth. rofl rolleyes:
Not sure about the comment on this one.. I'm relatively sure that Zen was trying to be somewhat humorous/sarcastic here...
Just as Romans we are veiwed the world over as wealthy and pompous. After this post maybe
You can find enough penis envy in this forum alone to support the above theory.
And just as Alexander councoured Persia 2300 years ago for trade rights, the same has been said of Bush and his war for oil. The same can be said for many other countries
I think Zen and Fluffy both made irrelevent posts on this last one...

Okay, so make that everyone but Japan.
During these early years of the American republic, British technology was copied in countless areas: bridge design and building, canal building, and textile manufacturing, to name a few.
¹World Wide Web
This was invented in 1989 by Tim Berners-Lee, a British graduate of Oxford University, while working at CERN, the European Particle Physics Laboratory. He wrote the first web client ( browser-editor) and server in 1990. The optical amplifier, allowing a step-change in how much data can be transmitted over the web and thus speeding its development, was also invented in the UK
Cloning
In February 1997, Dolly the sheep was born at the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh, the first clone of an adult mammal ever born.
The television pioneer created the first televised pictures of objects in motion (1924), the first televised human face (1925) and a year later he televised the first moving object image at the Royal Institution in London.
We also invented the internal combustion engine, the electric engine & computers in ww2.
Germany invented the first car.
My point being we invented all this shyt, you may have some sattelites & nukes etc but theres a few other countries that have invented things that have affected the world too.
Our systems of government and law are the standard for sucess in the modern world. your systems of government & law are copied from British/Greek/Roman
Irrelevency. Our systems of government and law adapted from Greek, Roman and British principles, are still accepted as the general template for economic and militaristic success
Canada has a Parliament, thats British. Australia has a Parliament, thats British. India has a Parliament, thats British. Pakistan has a Parliament, thats British. Nigeria has a Parliament, thats British. South Africa has a Parliament, thats British. Tanzania has a Parliament, thats British. Ethiopia has a Parliament, thats British. Egypt has a Parliament, thats British. Zambia has a Parliament, thats British... there's probably a million other places that have a Parliament because of British influence, or would you like me to continue & list them aswell?
Our attitudes and styles are adopted in every corner of the planet. There's a few wiggas in Europe but I doubt many people in Russia, South America or Asia care too much about the latest series of friends.
Ignorance. There has only been one artist considered amongst the top ten most successful in the last decade that was not a chart topper in the United States, that was Kylie Minogue. Blockbuster movies are defined by their success or failure in America. Practically every entertainment sect is extremely influenced by American culture.
I agree to a point, most Hollywood movies are shown around the world. But there are still a lot of other movies & such like Bollywood, Pinewood Studios &tc not to mention all the great films from Germany, Das Boot, Stalingrad et al. But you are talking about attitudes & styles. How many rag heads have you seen in the middle east wearing nike trainers & baseball caps? There are many other sports brands & designers out there such as Addidas & Ben Sherman. How many Italians do you know who are affected by American fashion? I also wager that the BBC World Service covers a greater area than US News networks.
Who drove their tanks into Siagon in 1975 whilst the US embassy was evacuated? You lost the war when you could have won it using hearts & minds. But you sent in a bunch of troops with no idea how to go about fighting a modern jungle war. They were as green as the grass with little/poor training & they didn't give a damn about civilians or collateral damage. Killing more of the enemy does not matter, winning the war does & you did not win. Who won the Tet offensive?
Our language is taught in more countries than any other. Your language is English, that is my language not yours.
As I said before, English may belong to the Brits, but America made it the world standard.
You are speaking English because it was the Brits who first owned your country, then we went on to take Canada & discover Australia. We also had South America & half the damn world. I think this movement of Brits over the glope & the victories of the Royal Navy might have a little more to do with English being a primary language than US involvement.
Our culture and lifestyle is the embodiment of wealth and prosperity. Scandinavia has a higher health & age rate
Where did he mention our health or age span? He said wealth and prosperity. Does your country have a higher GDP? Didn't think so.
What has GDP got to do with culture & wealth/prosperity? I've been to the USA & your lifestyle is no damn different from that in Europe.
We had a rather assimilated culture in Australia/Canada/South America &tc. We had half the world assimilated under the Empire & some of it still under the Commonwealth. But there is still diversity in Rome & there was still diversity in the Empire & in the USA. I don't quite understand this statement as there isn't really much difference between USA/Rome/UK other than the Empire was bigger.
-- Germany: Vee had a big penis... until you all ganged up and chopped it off.
irrelevent? You bet. What the hell has the Roman Emprie & trading got to do with the USA when so many other countries have copied it? Your answer dosen't really show much other than an infantile attack on my post
Why the hell did he post it then? If USA wasn't first to be similar whats the point of drawing parallels? Maybe hes trying to compare the USA to the glory that was Rome oOo:

[quote="Infection_Smith@":dc4d4]wow I truly see a parallel with our time with ancient times.
Soviet Union or Nazi Germany = Carthage
Britain = Greece (Alot of Rome's culture was based on Greek) Also note Britain controlled 1/4 of the world. Greece created an empire that nearly took all over the known world.
USA= Rome
Middle-East = Gauls and Celtics and Goths
Empires come and fall. They embody the same spirit through different bodies.
I think America within this half-century and the next century will be at its height of its power. Afterwards history will repeat itself.[/quote:dc4d4]
Couldnt have said it better myself. When an empire reaches its greatest power it begins to decline. America is still building to its climax wich i believe will be after Gulf War II. Then slowly but surely it will politically and economically collapse..
When i first came to the United States, 4 Litai (Lithuanian money) equaled 1 dollar. Now its 2 Litai for 1 dollar. The Euro is rising, so is the Pound.

Ah well...It's funny you americans actually believe the shit you like.
The most hated countries always fall. It must be great being the msot hated country. Take it a step too far...America will either have to destroy the entire world along with itselfs, or fall like all the others who were much bigger and stronger and still lost.

you act like it's not true. There is no American Empire, though you talk like you're greater than all the others. They fell, they all fall.
