1) At 12:00am, a certain amount of people had a big red dot painted onto their back by some ultra-quiet sonic painter from above without anyone noticing.
2) When it's dawn, it was announced that all 30 people may walk around looking at other people's back, but one wasn't allowed to look at ones own back or communicate with other people in any way, otherwise the whole group of 30 people would be killed.
3) The person(s) whose back were painted should commit suicide at 12:00am the next day, or the whole group would be killed. The experiment will go on until all red-dotted person(s) are dead. The painting process will only be done once, and that is on the first day of the experiment.
Given:
1) These are the thiry most intelligent people in the world.
2) Each individual is willing to play by the rule and is prepared to die to save the whole group.
3) At least one person's back was painted.
On the August 8th, 2004 at 12:00am, the game was over.
How many person(s)'s back were painted, when exactly did he/she/they (if they, each of them) commit suicide, and why.

Ok I have three.
an easy one.
"In the Tunnel of darkness lies a beast of iron. It can only attack when pulled back. What is it?"
a difficult one.
"We are very little creatures; All of us have different features. One of us in glass is set; one of us you'll find in a jet. Another you may see in tin, and a fourth is boxed within. If the fifth you should pursue, it can never fly away from you. What are we?"
And a stupid one
"I dance four feet to ev'ry line, with A and A I try to rhyme. And B and B make couples two, the answer my friend stands in front of you."

I'm as small as an ant, as big as a whale. I'll approach like a breeeze, but can come like a gale. By some I get hit, but all have shown fear. I'll dance to the music, though I can't hear. Of names I have many, of names I have one. I'm as slow as a snail, but from me you can't run. What am I?

No. I've got many PMs asking me for answers ed:
Anyway, for those who are interested. Here's the tip that I gave:
Imagine if you were one of the thiry people. On the first day, you walked around and looked at the other 29 people's back, and you've found NO ONE with a red dot.
What do you do then?
I'd like to also add that the following questions, all of them, can be worked out by logic - I did, honestly.

Obviously assuming yourself to be the only red-dotted person in the group,
you would take your own life and the game would end. Otherwise, if no one
were painted, everyone would make the assumption and a collective suicide
would ensue. I'm hoping that the aliens play fair and actually paint one or
more humans.
Suppose two people have red dots on their backs: obviously, they will each
count 28 people with clean backs and one with a red dot. Now what ?
They will either deduce that one of them has a red dot or that both do. Now,
being one of these fellows and knowing that another has a red dot and that
you might also have one, how would you proceed ? Would you take a chance
and risk killing everyone by inaction or would you simply take your life ?
I will assume that they both take their lives. Now, since the game doesn't
end until August 8th ... (to be continued)
