Anyone want to help me choose a good laptop? Looking for a big screen (17 inch) with a gig of ramm and a decent video card and about 120-160 hard drive space. Any thoughts on who makes the best laptop?

Thought about getting a mac but I'm so used to windows.

Depends really what you want it for, not really gonna need a good video card if you don't play games or anything on it, the better the vid card the more juice it sucks up and the shorter ytour battery life.

Dell laptops usually are good, (thats saying something), acer notebooks are meant to be good, usually cost mroe though

well since my computer took a shit im selling what i can and building a whole new system. im going to wait until conroe comes out and as soon as it does...cant wait. gerv..do you know anything about it? when it gets released do you think the EE of it will be released at the same time, or shortly afterwards? are there going to be crossfire motherboards released for conroe? i dont want to have to wait TO long for it and i plan on getting 1900xtx and a crossfire mobo and eventually get anoter xtx when its required.

Conroe or "core 2 duo" cpu's are due out july sometime (think the 23rd). Intel are working with ati and getting out a lot of crossfire boards as well.

Thats what the pricing is meant to be (only the 4 with CNR in the left hand column are conroe cpu's). Extreme editions are meant to be around 3ghz or more and cost $999. Probably be hard to get one of the cpu's though since the supply is meant to be limited for the first few months.

Get the 2.67 and clock it higher, people already have samples of these cpu's and are getting good overclocks on air with them.

a friend is selling his western digital raptor harddrive (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822144160). I'm wondering if I use this as a primary, will I notice the speed significantly, or will it only be a minor upgrade?

Be minor, raptors can be pretty noisy on it as well, 2 of them in raid 0 would give a more noticable bump in hard drive performance 1 on its own isn't much to shout about.
