If he pays $210, he is getting ripped off.
Not sure if he runs a dedicated server or what. Either way, without the burden of file downloads, etc. Forums don't require a whole lot of resources. Different ballgame entirely.
And honestly, who ever read any of the other crap?

the downloads do matter on bandwidth and what not, but it also matters alot on how many people are on the site at the same time. if dont have enough bandwidth the site will run incredibly slow if there are 60+ people online.
badscript was not getting ripped off, as was getting a dedicated box at theplanet.com, he could have payed even way more then $200, depending on the plan he had. shit, he could have been paying $500. my father pays $550+ a month for a dedicated server he has for his business. that is the norm for them, and it is just all because of bandwidth. bandwidth kills the price |

been down for a week or so. damn oktagone.net (my host) went out of business and i havent gotten a new host up yet. but its not dead yet biggrin:

we survived with the downloads going through filefront for a while back so it wouldnt matter

The site is much more important than the gameserver/s so i think any money donated should primarilly go towards the website hosting, we will probably have to reduce the hosting plan meaning the downloads will have to be scrapped or hosted 'elsewhere'. If we find gf1 is getting enough income from adverts/ member contributions, i think then we should look towards keeping the css server!

yea, same here but it would be nice to have a small upload space like in some forums to host a file that only members can download. it will help with images, mods, or anything else really. i read the news on the site but that is about it... the forums are all that really matter. |
