For a movie that was supposed to "educate" about the diamond trade and the exploitation of Africa's children. . .it took EVERY oppurtunity to turn in a cliched "action adventure" over RELEVANT social commentary. It even had the requisite love story and a final "shoot out" with the hero learning his lesson as he bleeds to death.

I havent seen it, but just because it wasnt a dry fucking docudrama doesnt make it "shameful"

SCHINDLERS LIST wasnt a "dry" docudrama, but it got its story across and wasnt cliched.
REQUIEM FOR A DREAM wasnt dry. RAIN MAN wasnt dry. BOYZ IN THE HOOD and COLORS werent dry. THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND wanst dry. The list could go on and on about movies that tackle/d real life issues or historical events, but didnt saturate it with Hollywood nonsense. Whats even worse, is that this movie was nominated for an Oscar. It wasnt "bad" by any means. . .the actors did their jobs - but considering the subject matter and the caliber of talent involved - youd THINK more care would have been taken to not have it be as polished and glossy as it was.

I heard it was a mixed bag - looked great, but mostly fluff. Probably if another creator other than Coppola had been behind the camera, it would've faired better critically. Ill have to check it out.

I never watched 300 for the acting just the battle scenes which were pretty good. beer:

Just too many freaks in the movie for my liking, gollums hunchback cousin and walrus man with the blades stitched to his arm. oOo: Not to mention Jethro the inbred hillbilly that the immortals bring into the battle.
