When you're in the middle of something like that It's not easy to think clearly. Rape is not merely a physical thing. It is a violation of you. He violated my roommates Avatar and the peace and security of our home. My only thought at the time was to get him away from her. It's not easy to figure out how to boot someone when you are in the middle of something like that.

the point of the game is to interact with and meet all kinds of colorful characters, friendly or no. and quite frankly, i would get really bored if everyone were constantly sweet and friendly all the time. i am considering creating a character just to go around and be mean to people. give people someone to talk about. now i would never do what this guy is doing, i do think it is extremely rude, but i read about this one sim that stood below(first floor) a pizza game in progress and called out bogus ingredients to confuse them. i though this was hilarious.
we do need sims to try out those not so nice interactions on!

I would NEVER do such a thing. ok, I admit it I did it once, I found it hilarious but the players didnt. Traumatizing someone through their avatar is not a game, it is violence. My roommate is very invested in her avatar and after the assault considered deleting it. Role Playing is used by therapists because it is a very powerful tool for change. People react emotionally in role playing in much the same way they would in r/l, "as if" it were real. In a protected and safe environment this is a powerful tool for positive change. In this situation it was a violent emotional assault. I have a Masters in both Clinical and Consulting Psychology with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy. If anyone is qualified to make an expert opinion in this respect, I am.

I don't think Shar's intent is to bring anyone down, but to make others aware that someone did something that was extremely uncalled for.. unfortuneately it did happen and many people play with different attitude and personal guidelines...fortunately even Maxis recognizes that... It is a game and that has always been my attitude concerning the Sims... It just was a situation, I really don't want happening again nor will it be tolerated..unfortunately the incident had dampended others fun.. especially mine for that day.. I understand that rp is used as a form of therapy but that does not mean that simsonline should be used as therapy. If this person was so traumitized by her experience, she needs therapy in a protected enviorment. TSO was never meant to be a means of therapy and you should not expect the same thing you would when engaging in rp/ creative therapy.
That being said, I would think that TSO would be the perfect place to explore issues because it is not safe yet, it is safe. If someon attacks you, they aren't attacking the real you. Even a person in therapy will eventually have to interact with the "real world" which can sometimes be cruel.

The sims is the sims. Life is life. Is "she" also going to throw a hissy fit when "her" character is deleted/killed or whatever. My girlfriend brought this post to my attention, and not because it disturbed her, but because she was laughing her ace off and I was wondering what was so funny.
If I could make a character and get in a garbage truck and drive around and deposit trash at people's house instead of picking it up, I would love that. It would be the responsibility for the government to fire me, but in the meantime am I going to have fun? Yes. I am a successful person IRL so I really have no reason to simulate what I am in real life.
If I could be a hitman for those that didn't pay their loans to the mafia off, I sure as heck would.
I saw a guy name hitmanII that had a house"The hitmans shack" with 3 walls, one of which was jaggedy. He had no carpet, but he had the shiny red doors on his bathroom. he had a column that was holding up nothing, and the guy was pretty comical, saying times were rough. He ate off of a grill. I want to be the guy that employs him. The guy apparently was having fun with the game and roleplaying. I can honestly say I envy that guy =)
If you wish to debate this please send me tells, I could use a good laugh.

There is no way you can compare this to RL rape. Obviously it has never happened to you. If it did, you would see a MAJOR difference. First there is a kick off button,my RL character never had it. Then there is an ignore button, my RL character didn't have that either. Of course I couldn't pile drive someone in RL also.
