Default Discovering Wall Hackers - 12-03-2002, 02:13 AM

even in SH the open_GL hack works, so the best way to tell if someone is using this cheat is to watch them and see if they know where enemies are ahead of time right? I did that tonight and booted a couple of guys who just sort of knew where the enemy was. It was not sound or regular vision, so it had to be wall hack. Beware of these individuals:

Let me club your ass
Let me bash you

I doubt very many people are using open_gl anymore, most are just using the skins.

Sometimes its hard to tell if people are using wall hacks or if they are really good. It is blatantly obvious when someone is looking through a wall that shouldn't be able to be seen through, but I have noticed some people are really good at waiting around corners. This could be a cheat too, but I try to give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to this. Too bad that hackers had to ruin this game with with wall hacks.

Bah, this is why I slowly move away from MOH, I hate the lack of support for hacks from EA.

I have found a very easy way to see for sure if someone is using a wall hack skin.
If there is someone on my server who I think may be using a wallhack skin but I'm not sure.
1) I will do a dumpuser to see what skin they use.
2) I'll ask them to go to spectator with me.
3) I let them know my concerns about them cheating and ask them to to do one simple thing to prove they aren't using a wall hack skin.
4) I will have them follow the same person as me in spectator mode.
I pick someone from the other team.
5) Dumpuser again to make sure they haven't changed what skins they were using.
6) I ask them to take a screen-shot at the same time I do. This is so I can compare the screen-shot to mine and verify when they were taken.
7) Then they have to email me the screen-shot.

I've done this to 2 people now. The 1st person refused so I was forced to ban him. The 2nd person switched skins before he took the screen-shots.
He had been using the same skins for 30 minutes. I ask for a screen-shot and he suddenly feels the need to switch the skins he had been using.
He was banned also.

This may seem like a lot but it only takes a minute.
If an admin asked me to do it I would jump at the chance to prove I wasn't cheating.

I'm curious to know what others think about this.

No not really.
This is why I take a screen shot the same time they do. So I can verify it when they send it in later.
They don't have to send it right then. They only need to send it after they leave but before they come back.

One way to know someone is hacking without spectating.. Let me paint a picture here..

Lets say your the last Allied on The Hunt map.. Your near the choke point camping at the bottom of the steps in the corner building. You know the last Axis is a wall-hacking sniper in the Axis sniper house, but your not sure. Well you have to make a move passed him for a perimeter breach. Best thing to do is flinch. Make a sudden move as if your about to come into view. Without actually coming into view. If you time it right. It will be a perfect flinch and will most always make the trigger happy wall-hackers fire off a shot . If the sniper fires before you even come into view. You tricked him and he's now busted.

It's fun to trick people into firing.. specially if they fire when they couldn't even see you yet.

Also.. If your close to the end of a wall and someone is on the other side of it shooting the wall.. You will more than likely start taking damage as you come around the corner.. If you immediately start to take damage. It's pretty obvious they were firing at you prior to you coming into view.

I've already witnessed that with Spearhead.

Members of Team God have been frequenting our server trying to get decent ratios to post on their "Hall of the Owned". Fawking OBVIOUS wallhacking action. Funny though, they've alays left with their tails tucked between their legs.

For people like this its obvious. Some people however are very good at excaping wallhack detection. I followed a guy around with a ratio of 23/3 for about 10 minutes. I shrugged my shoulders and was about to give up until he zooms in on a wall and fires. I free spectate and go into the room. Sure ennough someone is in there. . Signs like this happened a few more times and I booted him. He was good at hiding it though.

Well, when I know there's an enemy about to come around a corner (because we where in a firefight, or because I saw him running in that direction before he went behind the wall) I will start to fire a few rounds when I think he will appear again. Sometimes it works, and gets me an easy kill. I only do this with an MG or SMG though

Sometimes sounds can reveal the position of an enemy too: in 'The Bridge', on the allied side, go down into the storage basement on the right and go to the corner near the sewer entrance: you will hear the axis coming down the tunnel if they run, and with a bit of practice, you'll be able to tell if they are near the opening just by hearing them run (of course, a headset is really helpful)

So, detecting wallhackers the way Mr_nStuff described is only possible if you've not revealed your intentions to the other player (by walking instead of running, or by turning back where you came from or by waiting a short time before you round a corner) Of course, rifles or sniper rifles are the obvious ones to spot, it's a lot harder with SMG and MG...

Enjoy
Fox

I love that `flinch` test idea!

Unfortunately most of the ppl iv suspected only play realism and charge about with stgs etc, I dont think sunflares work so well in non-realism as the one hit kill dynamic is lost.
