Default New SP Patch - Problem - 12-16-2002, 10:19 PM

Anyone else having a problem with the new patch not being able to find Spearhead? I didn't change the directory or anything?

What's up with that?

You need the 2.1 No-Cd patch too. You will need WinRAR to open it.

Why do I need a crack like no-cd? I've the bought CD (dumb I know). I give it a try though.

To answer the first question. I start SP, it asks if I want to download the patch. So I download it.

It unpacks all the .cab files, but when it starts to install it says "Setup could not find a copy of Medal of Honor Allied Assault Spearhead on your computer. Please reinstall and try again". What the fuck?

Mind you I haven't tried that, reinstall, but its in the default directory, so I would think that there shouldn't be a problem. I guess I'm wrong. I also guess this is something else EA has screwed up. Can't even get an official patch to work with an official copy of the game.

Okay, reinstalled MOH:AA SP and the problem went away. Imagine that eh.

Thanks for all the suggestions on how to fix the problem.

Haven't had any other problems like other people have been posting, no ping problems - sometimes get 999, but that happened even with the original game.

Thanks again,

Weird. Maybe the patch was the wrong version. (Non-US or UK?), Dunno.

Pretty sure I had to US version. I used the same patch that was giving me the error message AFTER I reinstalled SP. Just one of those glitches.

Apparently MOHAA and MOHAA SH modify your system's registry in some fashion when you install them, so that it knows whether it is installed on your system, so if your registry is damaged, incomplete or outright missing the appropriate entries, then SH won't install, nor for that matter will the patch. I know this cuz my registry got eaten and I had to reinstall EVERYTHING, and in the case of MOH, I had to do MOHAA, MOHAA patch, MOHAA SH, MOHAA SH patch.

Ah the joys of EA quality control!
