Default Voice programs which one is the best?? - 01-19-2003, 07:50 AM

Ok, with everyone talking about voice coms I did alittle research of my own and discovered some things about the voice coms I hope this info is helpful to the peeps that want to use something for their clan.

Roger Wilco: rogerwilco.gamespy.com
While Roger wilco is a good program, it has some serious flaws. Sometimes it distorts the voices where you can't hear what is going on. It is good for 3-4 peeps on it however, the more you have on there the more of a pain it becomes. Especially when everyone decides to talk at once you can't understand what is going on. ALso, it has an annoying little sound that is kind of hard to describe. The best description I can give is it sounds like a walky talky turning on and off. I give RW ***

TeamSpeak: http://www.teamspeak.org
Teamspeak is a excellent program. With the exception of TS2 to me, that program just plain sucked! the 1.5 version to me is WAY better. Also, you will notice that ther is hardly ANY LAG with the use of TS and you can hear each and everyone that is in it clear just like talking over the telephone. Unlike RW when you have alot of peeps in there, it won't over lap when peeps talk. Of course your best bet is to have TS not on autotalk, as that will take up alot of bandwith but use a button to talk. Also, there is no annoying little sound like RW has.
There is 1 critical drawback with TS however, for the peeps that are LAN connected, TS kinda kicks you from the host server without you even knowing it. On your comp it will say you are still connected while on everyone elses, it says your gone. Very annoying when yo uare trying to play a game and you ckeep disconnecting. They did make a patch for it though, but it didn't fix the problem. I give TS **** Better sound, Better quality.

Battlecom: http://www.battlecom.org/
To be honest, I know nothing about this. But as soon as I have the info, I will post it at a later date.

That is it for now, I hope my info helped you

I tried TS2 and found the quality better and no lag, however, we have a problem when more than one peep is speakin at the same time. Makes a really horrible noise. Went back to RW for now. Any ideas on TS2?

We use Game Voice.. seems to work ok most of the time..In the freeware you are limited to how many people you can have.. but many of us have the registered version so we can get quite a few people in there...or..have a couple going on for Allies and Axis..if were practicing.

OTD, LLC, the AAN community, and few other clans use TS2 which is generiously hosted by Japser. Its a very good program...

I've never had the 2 people talking problem... it kinda blends the voices together.

I love TS2. I used to be a RW user, but converted to TS2, and stuck with it since. Tnx Jasper! biggrin:

Never had that problem with GV..but there are quite a few reasons why it may do it on one and not another anyway. But it has always done well for us. We have tried others, including TS and RW. Have not had as good of an experience. But there will be others that say the exact opposite. My suggestion is just try them and find what works best for you.
