I have a Dell pentIII about two years old with a voodoo3 card in it.

The mpdemo for MOHaa works fine but the bushes and trees are all sharp blobs and shards etc., muzzle flashes are literally square blocks, and the basic details are pretty bland. (My roommate has a Radion LE so I can see what they are suppose to look like.)

What video card(s) would you all recommend? I really don't think I can justify a $300 G Force 3, etc. But want to know what are the good cards for 3-D gaming.

Also, should I expect any problems putting such a new-age card in a PIII Dell?

thanks a lot.

I have a GeForce 2 GTS and i am going to replace it withe Radeon 8500 )

Its apparently a good bit faster (with the new drivers ) than the Geforce Ti 500.

Its also a good bit cheaper.

Oh and Fubar go here and all will become clear re' drivers for Nvidia http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?PAGE=windows9x

I have a geforce 3 but if money is tight, the best deal I seen is that Comp USA has an after christmas sale for Visionteks Ecstasy Geforce 2 Titatium 200 64 megs ddr, which is the same as the geforce2 pros for $99. On the net I seen them cheapest for 120 plus shipping. So I think you should check it out.

at the moment im running everything at 800x??? with medium settings with a fairly average framerate and my comp cant really handle the next jump in resolution the fps becomes just to slow

I have a 1ghz amd with 512 ram, and a geforce2 GTS, would i see much improvement in speed if i got a Geforce3?

and is it worh paying the extra for GeForce3 Titanium 500 rather than the GeForce3 Titanium 200?

thx

PS. does it matter what brand it is Elsa, Creative Labs, Hercules etc. i know its the same Nvidia chip in all of them, but is one better than other?

I expect I will try the suggestion of just beefing up my current Voodoo3 with new drivers et al.

But if I do eventually buy a new video card like a G Force 3 Spewtainium Whatzithooy does it matter that I currently have Win98 but would want to ultimately get a faster computer (perhaps an Athlon) with Windows XP.

Will I be able to take the G F 3 card out of my PentIII Win98 and put it in an Athlon with XP?

has anyone heard of the Detonator drivers?
What nVidia cards do they work on?I have a 16MB TNT 2 M64PRO and I really do not feel like plunking down 275 bucks for the ti 500 if I don't have to........
