2.15 patch is a BIG LETDOWN -
03-17-2003, 10:37 AM
I can honestly say that I am starting to get ticked off due to the lack of community support EA has to offer. After painting my own picture regarding EA, I have also taken the time to read through posts on numerous forums and it seems I am not the only one that is unhappy.
First off, I run my own server and pay a shitload for it due to the horrible CPU usage SH eats up on the server. This problem has been addressed and every time I hear news about an upcoming patch, I get excited thinking maybe, just maybe, EA will release a fix to horrible scripting on most of the Spearhead maps. Half of the stock spearhead maps are unplayable for most users. That is just scratching the surface on the problems with their support.
The sv_pure doesnt mean that much to me because I won't run it, but they screwed that up the first time and now they claim to have fixed it, but you must connect through gayspy in order for it to work.
The buttslide is another little problem that everyone seems to be making a huge deal over, its a glitch and I can live with it, but don't say you will fix it and then once again let down everyone that thinks its a big deal.
Now, most importantly, all I hear are bad things about this patch. How aiming is now off, pings are high, lag is present. I get 10 ICQ messages a day from my users and members asking me whats wrong with my server and the pings and aiming issues. Ever since I upgraded to 2.15, everything is going downhill. And now I am debating about going back to 2.11, as the only good thing EA has done is made the patches compatible with one another.
As far as I'm concerned, this game needs a facelift, not an 8mb bullshit patch that addresses none of the major issues with the game.

I thought that the patch size was a bit small considering all that needed to be fixed. I have held off installing it so that I may wait and hear about it..like your post for instance. also, I was debating about renting spearhead or aa server. I guess its a no brainer at this point. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah but still Judas, it's just lazy saying what they did. "Back slide SHOULD be resolved now". Well, gee it isn't working, make another patch man! At least address it, you know?

Maybe something can be done about these animations. If I can find the files where they occur and cut them out, maybe we can be done with them once and for all.

I will say that 2.15 did something to aiming. I thought it was just me but lots of people are complaining that they are shooting people dead on at 2 feet away and nothing is happening. I guess this is EA's way of stopping butt sliding "no hits = no butt sliding" mad:

The amazing part is they said "should" end butt scoot. SHOULD? THey dont even know. Thats like GM saying the airbags should work in an accident. Multi-milliondollar company and they can't fix their own product. They must have interns working on this.

What pisses ME off is its EALA that caused the butt scoot bug in the first place. They added a new animation to the character models that basically is a "pain" animation showing that the character in question has been hit. Its when this animation occurs that the butscoot also kicks in. Surely to hell removing that animation would eliminate the problem?
Then again speaking logically just leaves eala coders going "duh?"

how many of you can honestly say that aiming with the new 2.15 patch is different from 2.11? i've read a few complaints of people saying that aiming is less accurate and slightly different somehow. i have yet to install 2.15, i'm just looking for some info on this particular subject.
