make whatever you want, hit ctrl+E untill everything is one layer, go to layer>convas size then make it 2 pixels bigger. make a layer style and add a stroke sleeping:

If you are using different blending end shadow effects on each layer, you will loose them doing that..
Best thing there is to save it as a .JPG and then proceed..

Wrong. If you do that, you will have to double-save the jpg and therefore double compress it. That's bad. The best way is to make a new layer, fill it with a solid color, drop the fill opacity down to 0%, then set a stroke with the size and color you want it, and set it to inside.
