[quote:75727]Childless couple told to try sex

A German couple who went to a fertility clinic after eight years of marriage have found out why they are still childless - they weren't having sex.

The University Clinic of Lubek said they had never heard of a case like it after examining the couple who went to see them last month for fertility tests.

Doctors subjected them to a series of examinations and found they were both apparently fertile, and should have had no trouble conceiving.

A clinic spokesman said: "When we asked them how often they had had sex, they looked blank, and said: "What do you mean?".

"We are not talking retarded people here, but a couple who were brought up in a religious environment who were simply unaware, after eight years of marriage, of the physical requirements necessary to procreate."

The 30-year-old wife and her 36-year-old husband are now being given sex therapy lessons while the university clinic undertakes a study to try to find out if there are more couples with a similar lack of sex education.

Fanatically religious parents raised them, do I need to say anymore? They brainwashed them into believing that sex was prohibited by god, and the children carried this belief into marriage. The fact that they had NO clue whatsoever that sex was required to procreate shows how crazy some people are.

Oh, and ED, please stop flaming my posts. You are clearly not as intelligent as you want people to think, and hence you come off as an ignorant prick sometimes. I wouldn't have a problem with this, but you seem to want to butt in to every post I make and spout off irrelevant shit.

Here, let me give you a definition of a zealot, so you can write it down and no doubt use it in one of your mindless rants in the future.

\Zeal"ot\, n. [F. z['e]lote, L. zelotes, Gr. ?. See Zeal.] One who is zealous; one who engages warmly in any cause, and pursues his object with earnestness and ardor; especially, one who is overzealous, or carried away by his zeal; one absorbed in devotion to anything; an enthusiast; a fanatical partisan.

Now, the fact that they are negatively affecting these people by most of our understanding, could somewhat support your point. Although it is nitpicking. But from their point of view, they feel they are doing right by their children. The key here is fanatical

Probably because thier religious group viewed sex as wrong, or at least the pleasure given by sex. I still dont understand how neither of them could not have heard about it when growing up, they must have been living in the woods or something.

If you don't know what sex is, you don't know what a fertility clinic is.

" Let's go to a clinic and find out why I'm not having a baby from standing around doing nothing. "

There's no chance two people that stupid could meet and marry.

"HEY DOES ANYONE HERE NOT KNOW WHAT SEX IS AND WILL THEY MARRY ME?"

sleeping:

Theres NOTHING in that article that even begins to suggets that their inability to understand the basics of reproduction is a factor of RELIGIOUS FANATICISM. You - and this doctor - are trying to scapegoat religion as if all religion wants to keep their parish in the dark about the "nasty". Now if the couple comes out and says that their religious tenents dont mention intercourse, then you sir get a gold star, but as it is you're extrapolating based off your OWN ignorance and prejudice.

Go have another pow-wow with Jim so next time he can clear what you post before you post it.

First off, don't call him by his first name, he doesn't like you. Secondly, thanks for proving my point, that was a nice little cheap-shot there at the end. Sadly, much like most of your posts, it makes no sense whatsoever. If you had any clue what goes on behind the scenes here you would be dangerous.

You better start shaping up, you're a moderator now.

Oh, next time read the article before replying with that pink bullshit.

"We are not talking retarded people here, but a couple who were brought up in a religious environment who were simply unaware, after eight years of marriage, of the physical requirements necessary to procreate."

NOTHING points to religious fanaticism? Careful what you say

I dont think being ignorant or predjudice is the reason why someone would form the conclusion that their religion was the cause of this.

The point that the doctor makes is, that they are not retarded, or unintellient people.

the only way someone could not know about sex is if they were homeschooled and EXTREMELY sheltered,
usually parent exhibit this behavior on religious grounds.

well, i have to take TGB's side on this one. As a Roman Catholic, sex is actually viewed as the official time a husband and wife complete the sacrament of marriage. So, in order to be officially married to someone, you have to marry in the church and then screw the living hell out of your partner (without any sort of birth control if one were to follow strict practices)

sleeping:

My mother is a "deeply religious" person and was raised in a VERY religious environment, but she obviously got the basics of sexual reproduction down pat, and I'd wager to say she enjoyed some strictly self-gratifying sex once or twice in her lifetime. You, and this doctor, are trying to draw conclusions based on an EASY TARGET in these folks lives.

Could their ignorance about sex be attributed to religion. Possibly. But THAT and religious fanatacism are to WHOLLY seperate concepts, yet you are more than willing to marry the two to prove your point. You have zero in the way of information to even make this argument except your own bias: "well gee they're deeply religious so OBVIOUSLY some cult got ahold of them, and brainwashed them to reject sex". If you have a problem with "organized religion" (at it seems you do), thats fine - but dont try and castigate it by drawing conclusions where none exist.
