I just started mission 5 and I'm in this town and there's god damn snipers everywhere. I can't even get past the very beginning of the level. I watching the damage indicator, but it doesn't help. The god damn shots seem to be coming out of nowhere.

Is there anyway to turn off the damn tree graphics, so maybe I could see where these snipers are. Didn't they play test this game? It's the most fucking annoying level I've ever experienced in a FPS game.

I personally love that level and I think it rivals Omaha as one of the best of the game. The trick is to move very slowly through the town. I mean, it took me over an hour to do it. Moving slowly also means that the rest of your squad will stay out of firing range, thus making it easier to get them all through safetly. Your medic will come up once in awhile and heal you if you need it, just make sure he doesn't get hit.

So the strategy is to move slowly through the town. Try to lure the enemy snipers into shooting at you and use that to discover where they are. Check the rooftops! There's atleast 3 in that level that you can just barely make out their head and if you don't get them, they'll knock out your other team members with relative ease.
Also, keep you eyes on any bell towers off in the distance or any bombed out buildings. I believe that early on in the level, a P51 flies overhead and drops bombs on a nearby house...actually it reveals 2-3 enemies who will snipe you to death if you don't clean them out.
That's really the philosophy though. Think of yourself as an exterminator sent out to rid each area of it's snipers. Make sure to explore every inch of the map and if you discover yourself getting shot at, stay out of that snipers line of sight until you clean him out.

The problem is I can't see the snipers at all. I think it's completely unfair that they can see you through a tree or through brush but the same does not apply for you. I have the graphics on maximum, so the trees an such are incredibly detailed and I just can't see things through them. Funny game that punishes players for turning up graphical detail.

Well Steve,
If the snipers were easy to spot that would defeat the nature of a sniper. I know it seems tough and probably unfair, but that's what makes them a challenge.

Good luck.

I died about 30 times here before I restarted the level, and waited for the lightning to start flashing. Then I looked up at the roof top behind the tree, and the lightning showed me the outline of the goddamn Nazi who is causing all the problems.

Once I got past the destroyed tank. I took the right fork in the road with my team following. Ingoring the intermittant sniper fire, I noticed about a quarter mile down the road, a fire was flaming in one of the buildings. I pulled out several links of Bratwurst out of my haversack and started cooking them and backed off. In about 10 minutes the aroma permeated the neighborhood and the krauts started moving in towards these cholesteral bombs. Before they could take a bite, me and my team popped. Honest....it really happened that way :>

Thanks for the help. I saw that one sniper on the roof who was the source of all my problems. He's almost completely obscured by the fog and the tree. Wouldn't have found him unless you guys told me where to look.

I actually found the second part to be easier, despite the fact that it has more snipers. Their positions were more obvious and at least there was much less fog.

Guess you've got to go through hell to get to one of the most fun levels in the game (Tank!). Still that level was way too hard in my opinion; and really, would the Nazis deply their entire fricking sniper regiment to take out 8 soldiers!

That level was one of the best if not the best level in the entire game. I liked Omaha but I really loved the sniper level. Steady and slow is the way to go.

I agree that the level was a biotch, but the tension I felt the entire time was probably pretty close to what our guys felt in those bombed out cities.

I really hate snipers.....

well, steve, im right there with ya. i played for 2 hours the other night and kept getting killed in the same spot over and over. and for the love of god, I couldnt find them. finally put it on god mode and found the 2 on the roof, then went back and played it. i loved the level as far the weather effects and atmosphere.

Also, try this. Rush as fast as you can even without guns(you'll run faster), and look to where you here the rifle fire. You'll get killed plenty times, but eventually you'll spot them. Look on the roof tops. It is frustrating, but when you kill the bastards, it feels pretty damn good. I remember saying, "Got ya , ya motherfucker!". And then I remembered it was AI the was beatin' me all along. Its a good laugh you'll have when you beat it!

Yeah the rooftops are the key. I was killed by a sniper on the roof 20 times before I finally saw him. The bad part about the damage indicator is that it doesn't show if the person is high or low!
