Default Is a Music discussion sticky needed? - 10-11-2004, 12:37 AM

It seems that anytime someone uses source pics related to music the thread gets trashed by different opinions of the band.

Really, it is no wonder that the guys that hang out in the "art" section are also opionated about music... another art form. Now it has recently become my shared responsibillity to maintain order in our little nitche of the AA world so...

My question is would a music sticky help, work, or even be used here?

No rules... outside of the boards already stated rules of course, just open for conversation about music only.

I'm looking for feedback here, so state your opinion to your hearts content. If you think it could be useful, we will give 'er a go, if you not... it won't be the first time I have had a bad idea.

Right, then why does everyone fly off the handle over here about a damned sig or avatar?

I mean sometimes it starts out ok, but by page two you guys are figting over proper classification of a band or type of music, and totally forget about the purpose of the post.

I locked my first thread because by page 4 of a sig test the coments had grown to personal attacks based on other peoples opinion of a type of music. And I have been here long enough to know this is a regular occurance.

I am just looking for a solution, suggestions would be appriciated.

If you guys didn't debate like pre-school kids, I wouldn't have a problem.

I have no problem with intelligent debate, or heated discussion and I don't have a problem with defending your possition with strong words.
However, I do expect a certain amount of relevency in replies.

I won't make any such music thread.

Do what static said. If everybody remained on exactly what the topic was, aa.com would be boring as shit.

I accually believe there should be like a strike system here resulting in bans. As you can see being nice doesn't work Zen. You offered a really good alternative to constant bickering over complete irrelevancies to the topics the arguments overhwelm and it starts within your own post.
