Default buying hardware....help - 06-14-2005, 08:20 PM

hey guys, i have been anticipating battlefield 2 for quite a while but i knew my system wasnt up to it.
so now, i must update.

current (laff):
2001 gateway (lol omfg laff) desktop computer (i wasnt into gaming at the time of purchase)
2.0 ghz intel pentium 4 (want to OC)
256mb RAM (hl2 runs smooth)
ATI RADEON 9000 64MB gfx card (laff)
160w psu
intel mobo...has a few PCI,1 AGP, 2 slots for ram.

this is my plan:
add Corsair XMS (1GB) 184-pin (matches my mobo) DDR sdram (pc3200)......$83.55
[url:d050e]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145450[/url:d050e]

add ATI RADEON 9800 pro agp 8x 256mb DDR.......$203.99
[url:d050e]http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=320765[/url:d050e]
think its safe to order from this place or stick to familiar companies?

and to help that psu....
add a COOLMAX CX-350 350w PSU.......$38.50
[url:d050e]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817159012[/url:d050e]
think this psu will be ok? im on a tight budget so no $60+ ones...
plus i cant have a huge one because im already gonna have to cut some holes for fans to keep it all cool.

EDIT: run across this
[url:d050e]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835186115[/url:d050e] i dont think i would need to cut holes for fans if i had this. im not worried about the psu heat im just worried about the gfx card. any suggestions?

you guys think those parts can get this old chunker into bf2 with decent gfx and smooth gameplay?

total comes out to be around $400 and brings system to:
2.0ghz p4
1gb ram
256mb ati 9800pro
350w psu

meets all req's right?

No way i would pay 200$ for a 9800 pro, Get the Nvidia 6600GT, it outperforms the 9800 and can be found for around 150-180$

Dont appoligize to me, your paying more $$ for less performance.

And i also prefer ATi over Nvidia.
