"A spokesman for Dell Inc. declined to comment on how the delay might affect sales. In a statement released by Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard Co. said it supported Microsoft's decision to make "quality" a priority in scheduling the operating system's release."
Quality, just like XP OS which still relies heavily on "updates" and SP's on a constant basis.
Has anyone "tried" the Longhorn version of this OS?
If so, what do you expect from the future of the MS monopoly?
I had run Longhorn on my other Athlon XP 2.0Ghz and it was so laggy and buggy. Made my system come to a crawl on more then on occasion. Hopefully i just got a shitty copy.
Vista's said to use 800mb of ram mainly because of the new style desktop, its also more gpu intensive just using the os itself because of all the new flashy graphics they have for it. Its meant to free up the ram when a games launched though so the 800mb usage might not be too bad. opengl however is another issue, as of now ms are just going to layer it over direct 3d which will probably cause quite a performance hit in any opengl game. annoy:

I think Vista will be fine, they're not exactly idiots and are on the cutting edge of technology [mostly] all the time so theres no need to worry imo.
Windows is pretty much infinately customizable so things will be fixed, added to and adapted as time goes on.......I look forward to more stability, more innovative ideas and generally a bigger step forwards in the way we use our computers

I'm just pissed that there are like 6 different versions of the OS
