The most ironic thing I've ever seen is my friend overclocking his PII 400 to 900mhz. He melted the processor, and had a puddle of pentium on his mobo. It was by far one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Overclocking a processor never sounded like a good idea to me, I mean , these are computers we're taking about , you never know if they're gonna work or what. Messin with them will most likely make them behave even worse in the longrun. biggrin:

overclocking is simple i was running a amd k6 500MHz at 900 and it run good with the right cooling and it was double fanned..also a server fan inside of case anyways never mind .. clocking is good 4 apps but 4 games it will skip as u r straining the chip...it doesnt so much as overheat providing u dont just clock it without the right equipment..fans etc..2 much messing around 2 cos i had to remove chip from mobo and bridge all the L1 bridges ontop of chip to allow overclocking without burning it out..anyways nm.. fire2:

Overclocking today is alot easier than it was with my friends PII, due to the fact that today's PC's have jumperless boards, which allow you to set the clock freq. and multipliers by just adjusting small switches.

You could easily overclock a P4 2Ghrz to 2.4 with the proper cooling. Even with water cooling, you could probably get it to 2.6.
