I talked to BB the other night on the phone and he sounds like he is dealing with a lot of the issues raised here regarding bf1942.

I went out, got the game, played for a few hours and now the CD sits in my desk drawer. I would love this game if you could get real teamwork going and fulfill the whole combined arms concept. But it just feels like a bunch of monkeys running around. To play, I'd have to be in a clan or something and I just don't have the time for that now. While there doesn't seem to be any greater co-op in MOHAA, for some reason I enjoy playing it without it, Perhaps its absence isn't so keenly felt without the tanks, planes and ships (o my).

I'm sorry to hear that admin alliance is stalled, I was just wondering about its status before I left. While I've been working mostly independently I am still interested in a project of this type. Of course much depends on what is actually released and then patched in Spearhead, both CK's and my own projects will be greatly effected by this. However a private forum for discussion would not be a bad idea, especially since we really only have discussed a few basic ideas so far and alot of theoretical work still needs to be done.

I didn't even bother buying BF1942, the demo showed me it wasn't my type of FPS game.

Default temp alliance - 10-10-2002, 09:01 AM

Seeing as how i am an admin, and i want to see this happem as much as al the other admins, i am currently making a webpage, and forums just for this reason. Hopefully it will only be temporary, and he will come back from BF1942 and continue on the project, but until then, we have a place to go. When i am done, i will post info on where to go in this thread.

Everyone seems to like BF1942 because it does so much. After playing it several times. I agree it does a lot, but it doesn't do a single thing all that well.
If you want to fly a plan get a real flight sim. I found the tank and plane controls very comical.

As for the adminalliance, hopefuly some of the issues it was created for will be taken care of with the expansion pak..

Yes, some, but definately not all. And worse than that is the SDK opening doors for these idiots who MUST cheat.

While I never played CS, the horror stories are enough to make a fan of a game cringe when compared to a game of MOH's caliber. So having an alliance with other admins who are commited to providing a fun and cheat-free place to play the game is almost imperitive on the eve of the SDK release.

Don't get me wrong. I want to see the SDK released as much as anyone. But there are consequences to every action and an alliance among admins will help keep these consequences to a minimum.

Oh, and since a lot of admins have probably been watching this thread, I really have to plug DMz Dog Tags. The maps fixes are better than before and Auto Balance seems to piss off skin-cheaters to no end (doesn't make sense to have both teams in bright skins and it screws you up when your own team mates suddenly are the ones in bright skins evil: ).

Score one point for McCusker.
Your right the Expansion Pak may bring as many problems as it helps to fix

Not wanting to get too far off topic here, but I'd like to know what options you have set and how you like the various fixes. Please send me a PM with your thoughts and a cut/paste of your config file. (anyone else using the beta DMz is welcome to send me a PM also, I need feedback to improve it!)

Just to clear a couple of things up =[DOA]= is still a clan. Alot of us are taking a break from Mohaa, until the expansion pack comes out. The one thing BF1942 is missing is all of you. I really can't get into the game because I don't know anyone on the servers. What makes it fun is when you know the people you play with. So everyone take a break and join us on BF1942. biggrin: Hope to see some familar names soon.

I've talked to BB and I will be putting together the MoHAA side of Admin Alliance, and assisting on this public project in general. Short term we should be able to get a site going that features all the current anti-cheat software/methods, and long term we'll be looking at the cheater database discussed previously. More info soon.

It's still in the early stages, so no open positions yet. However feel free to PM me with what you'd like to do or what your skills are.
