I don't think I could really pick one great plane. It'd have to be a toss up between the Spitfire (for sheer manuverability) the P-51 (for being just a great all rounder) and the FW-190 (for fire power, brutal looks and the most kick ass radial engine in a fighter plane).

So I guess I'd put each plane into 3 seperate catergories.
Best Dogfighter = Spitfire XII
Best Escort = Mustang
Best Attacker = FW190

The founder of the Messerschmitt Flügswerke (aircraft company) was Willi Messerschmitt. The reason that the Messerschmitt 109, 110, and a few others had the Bf. designation was the fact that when W. Messerschmitt first designed them, he was working for the Bavarian Flügswerke ( thus B-F ). Sorry, Murphy but the messerschmitt 163 is the Me. 163, NOT Bf. 163 (I will beat you for that tomorrw before school).

Yes, and the founder of the Heinkel Flügswerke WAS Ernst Heinkel.

I'll put my vote for the Messerschmit Bf 109, thats my favourite.

BTW, Bürgen, what does Messerschmit mean? Isn't Messer word for knife? Is it like a knife smith?
