Try updating your Nvidia drivers (http://www.nvidia.com) along with Direct X. If not, maybe your card is not a minimum requirement for the game? I dunno. .

I had to return the game because it didn't work on my WinXP Pro PC, but then I discovered Compability Mode, and it worked like a charm.[/quote:b9359]

i tried d/ling the drivers u sent me to, tht didn't work, i also tried tht compatibility mode, tht didn't work, anyone goet any other ideas?

Hobbit, those opening 5 posts really made my day, thanks mate. biggrin:

...how do you mean you "tried d/ling" the drivers..? did you get them and install them,
or was there a problem..?, even if there is a prob with "Op flash" you need to have the latest
drivers for your graphics card and directX....report your status. ...roger that...erm, out...come back..?...

You need:

- The latest patch for the game (1.45?)

(Fixed: When no display adapter is selected in preferences and no adapter is recognized, select the first one. This resolves the "Cannot create 3D device: Adapter -1" error message.)

- Recent nVidia dirvers

- Recent DirectX version (8.0 at least)

And:

This is due to your graphics card. You must ensure that your graphics card is one of the supported chipsets as detailed on the box and that it has at least 16Mb of memory.

If this is the case then it may be that some DirectX features have been disabled.

Run DxDiag.exe, by clicking on the Windows Start Button, selecting Run and entering "Dxdiag" in the open box.

Now click on the Display tab. In the centre of the screen there is a section called DirectX features. Below there, you should have Direct3D and Direct Draw 'Acceleration Enabled'. If it says 'Acceleration Disabled' click on the button called Enable. If it says No Acceleration Available, then go to Control Panel - System - Performance and make sure that 'Hardware Acceleration' is set to full. Then restart your PC and run DxDiag again and check that both Direct Draw and Direct 3D say 'Acceleration Enabled'.

If the problem persists and you do have a supported graphics card, ensure that you have the latest drivers for this card.

If you are only experiencing this problem after installing the upgrade, try selecting the 'Auto-Detect' option from the Operation Flashpoint Preferences program.

And/or:

(1) If you have nVidia TnT or GeForce / GeForce 2 card and you are running in 16-bit mode, you must check in D3D settings "Adjust Z-buffer depth to match render buffer depth".

"Adjust Z-buffer depth ..." option can be found this way:
Right click on desktop >Properties >Settings >Advanced > Geforce bookmark >Additional Properties > Direct3d setting.

(2) Use lower resolution. This may help especially if you have graphics card with 8 or 16 MB of RAM.

(3) Edit line "refresh=;" to "refresh=0;" or "refresh=60;" in your Flashpoint.cfg. If there is no such line, add it.

(4) Test DirectX 8: Run DxDiag and perform Direct3D test. If anything is reported as not working, reinstall DirectX and/or graphics card drivers.

Good luck.

Incidently, on an OFP related theme, i cant see the clock hands on my watch. When i first got the game they were there, but since doing all the add ons and upgrades, the hands have vanished.

I am totally addicted to the game justnow. curently playing through the resistance missions.
I love that game.

Hobbit, i suggest you go and buy the full game and add ons. stop playing with the demo, the full game is a must have!!

im running it on a pIII 450 128ram and intel chipset graphics thing.
sure, i cant run it at great settings, but man, is it one awsome game!.
