I would have posted this on TMT but the thread is closed.

Why would anyone feel the need to slate another forum? Even more strange is the need to pigeon-hole all of the members of that forum as bad, simply because they post there more often.

How can such a redundant and unimportant issue be so vehemently argued? Who cares?

Whilst I would agree that aa.com is a darned sight more chaotic and unfriendly than most other (all other?) forums for MOH, it is still one of the most popular so far as members and posts, so it's obviously doing something right. If it was so bad then why do so many people post there?

I post at TMT from time to time but I am not a regular there. The people are nice there, sure, but at the end of the day it's just not as busy as aa.com and I have gotten great enjoyment out of some of the many discussions and arguments I've had here.

For me to read that because I do post on aa.com that I must be rude, belligerant and confrontational is ludicrous.

There is a good reason why aa.com is the way it is. Without the support of the site owner to cull stale data, update the site and offer support to the mods how are the trouble-makers supposed to be controlled?

More to the point, why bother?

I don't particularly condone some of the bullshit that goes on here, and sometimes it annoys me, but I have the right to not read it if I don't like it. I also have the right to state my opinion on it. I just wouldn't go so far as to slate the whole forum and all its members.

You see, I have no reason to defend aa.com. I couldn't give a toss about what anyone says about it because I don't take that kind of thing personally (I have a much better grasp on reality than some people it seems).

It's just that I fail to see the point of slating it and its members. Slate individuals if you have a problem with them, sure, but if you have to generalise an entire group of people and cuss them then you're no better than the people you're cussing.

Bottom line is this: If people at TMT are so benign then why are some of them cussing another forum on the internet?

Beats me.

Live and let live. Life's too short.

Ydiss you da man. The best revenge is to do nothing at all. Then when karma comes around it's twice as sweet. (Seeing xwife, in jail jumper, at her court date, and telling judge "No Sir I'm not here to bail her out.)

'tis true. you can catch more flies with guinness than you can with miller lite.

and you can still drink the guinness because you can't see the flies.

tritone words of wisdom #178

Heh.

I agree, but the hypacrisy is amusing to me that the two guys making these comments are at TMT because they got run off other sites. Tritone in particular for his "STFU n00b!!!!" attitude at PMOH.

Either way, who cares? If you dont like a site, dont visit.

Ydiss - I am sure your post was good, but they seem to get longer and longer and my attention span is too short.

Oh, I forgot to add... A lot of people in the thread on TMT said that other sites have more strict modding. They then go on to have a dig at Innoxx for being too harsh and rude, as if this is the sole reason for aa.com's reputation. Give him a break!

Innoxx (and other more recently added mods) are trying their best to help the site they are regulars in by getting tougher on trouble makers and this site is slowly beginning to sort itself out.

He may be harsh but the site needs it and there's a visible improvement to thread quality recently (that's down to all the mods, not just Innoxx). It's not as friendly as some might like it to be, but it has character.

It still stands that this site will never be totally clean until we have an owner that takes an interest (I can't blame Badscript for his lack of interest, though, it's a thankless task).

But at least there are people trying to make it a better place, whilst trying to retain the character of the forum and not make it a boring fan site where everyone is nice to everyone all of the time and hardly anyone posts.

I tend to agree with something Innoxx said a while back:

"There is such a thing as being too PC."

Amen to that.

I hope some of the members of TMT read this as it was initially intended to be posted there.

Lol, sorry.. Here's a condensed version of both posts:

Why bother cussing a whole forum? Not only is it pointless but it's unfair on the members who are actually very nice people.
It's hypocritical to cuss a forum for the members being rude when you yourself, by cussing, are doing exactly the same thing.

Why pin blame on people like Innoxx who are only trying to clean the place up by being harsh, which is exactly what you tell us is needed to run a clean site?
Innoxx and other mods here recently have become strict but have still managed to keep the site's character intact (ie, it's possible to be too politically correct - to the point of boredom.)

There ya go biggrin:

Bravo folks. Way to prove your maturity levels.

Sad thing is alot of what was said on TMT is true, and not just about n00b behavior. The thing that keeps this site going is that it had the forsight to register alliedassault.com before anyone else. There is no evenhanded moderation, there is no real commitment to clean shit up. Just deal with the immediacy and let the past fester. That's whatll kill this site. So you have to take the site down for a week, two weeks, a month to clean out the shit? I say more power to you. This game isn't going anywhere, but the audience for it sure will leave here.

And Cookie Monster was right.
