I think I've aped Jhonen most of all. For a period I was completely obsessed with ZIM/JOHNNY/SQUEE shit. So yea a bit of that I think bled into my style when I'm making a CONCIOUS effort. I think theres some good doodles in there, and some really shitty ones.

Allreds cool, and I'd kill to be able to mix in his retro style in. I've always like the way that looked.

I suspect you're talking about cartoonists? I'm not at all a big follower of artists as far as cartoonists go, but I love Todd NcFarlane. Have you seen any of his work?

The video for Pearl Jam's Do The Evolution was some of the best drawing I've EVER seen.

:geek mode on:

Todd's a bit of a Hated Man in the field of comicing/cartooning what with dirty deals being done -

But his work is still kick ass. And all of them Winters noted are cartoonists, although I'd say Timm's (Batman Animated Series, Superman, Justice League) work is the most recognized, followed by Jhonen Vasquez (Invader Zim - if you've never seen an ep you need a lamectomy), and then Mike Allred (Madman).

Worked at Diamond Comics. They are the only distributor of any size left in the comics field. They signed exclusives with the big 4 and even have a clause that DC Comics has first right of refusal if Geppi puts Diamon up for sale. Diamond has a bit of a monopoly and was even investigated by DOJ. I was an account manager for West Coast. Had alot of big comic and specialty stores as clients with a team of 7 working with me to sell/fix/mediate/PR/etc all the account BS. I was frequently sent to Comicons all over, business meetings..blah blah. Alot of creators (who had a financial stake in alot of decisions being made by Diamond/Big 4) would attend such events. met Quesada/Palmiotti/Connor up in Toronto. This is when they started their work for Marvel and Connor was doing Vampirella and some Image stuff. Got to go to a private screening of Princess Mononoke and had a pleasant convo with Gaiman over Miracle Man debacle. Wife got to meet heem as well. All in all most of the creators were genuine working Joes. Jim Lee and his studio were a bunch of arrogant fucks though. I showed them around our building and they acted like a flock of school girls all giddy and laughin at the people who were working to further their interests. they made some snide comments, but in the same breath signed a shit ton of comics for me....I was very happy in the comics industry. I swear i was gonna retire there....i had a blast man...
