Stun - i do not have the power to do that
oh and what some of you guys dont know, Locking a thread takes 1 second to do, where as deleting a thread takes as long as 2 minutes. the former mods didnt take the time to delete a low quality thread, thus locking a thread made this forum look messy

people here are too immature to handle getting their post deleted, just like they're too immature to handle it getting locked

The only reason I would lock or delete a thread is if a flamewar was about to happen. If you have say a topic like City Nights 2 and the flames start going, just delete those posts and keep the thread alive. Removing or locking the thread only makes those who created it that much more upset at the mod who removed it.

Good luck, Simo. I think you are going to need it. I was one of the early members of this site (check my date). I pretty much left because it doesn't have any serious modders. It hasn't changed. There is very little substance here. To make matters worse, the members here have made it pretty clear they don't like the serious modders. Doesn't leave a whole lot of material on which to base a mapping, modding and skinning forum.
This was THE place to post your maps and mods at one time. Now it's a wasteland.

I agree FULLY! I remember back when I first got MOHAA, man I was such a n00b as was everyone else was Well I remember wanting to come here all the time to see the new mods and maps because this place was hip and with it man. This place had everything to offer. Now, it is a lonly forum with no meaning. I really wish you can turn it around SIMO, I really do. So good luck.

Hello all.
I agree with Balr14. Simo, best of luck, you WILL need it.
This post is proof positive of the very issues that are trying to be avoided.
It started as a suggestion post for changes to the site, and has become a flame of certain people.
That is the very thing that makes these forums useless.
You really want to change the forum?
Stop keeping post counts and ranks.
It seems that users tend to get more involved in how many posts they have, and therefore do not even attempt to use the "search" function.
A problem not mentioned so far is the fact that posts are written over and over again, all dealing with the same subject.
If users "search" most likely they would find their answers. But then if they found their answer, they couldn't start a new thread and gain post counts.
Another very helpful thing would be for users themselves to be more specific in their post titles. This greatly increases the chance that the post will show up in a search. These "HELP!!!!!" topics clutter the forum, and hinder searches. It would be a lot better to limit searches to post titles, instead of getting 2000 hits in a search. So instead of HELP!!!, actually state the problem in the post title as best as possible.
If you post material on the site, and the response that you get is not positive, don't get pissed off. It's no big deal. You can't make everyone happy. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But how you say it is just as important as what you say.
Lastly, Simo has a huge job ahead of him. The problems are known.
It is up to the users themselves to help out. Just STOP the garbage replies. Try to have some informative content in your replies.
Yes--they are n00b's..yes...they may ask uninformative q's.....maybe the submissions are not that great....but you know what? You were a n00b once, too.
As a user of the forum, it is up to you to change it! Talk is one thing...action is another entirely.
Kill Ya Later!

Good luck as I have always thought that aa.com was past the point of no return.
The key is mature moderating and admining....and what tough is that the majority of the members are not. Removing 90% of the forums might get you there.
I have to say you guys will be in for a tramendas amount of work...best of luck...you will need it.
