I handle firearms all the time and this story doesn't jive with me. When you release the magazine, there's still a round in the chamber. You need to "rack the slide" to eject that round....meaning, you grasp the top of the slide with your weak hand and move it to the rear most position while keeping your trigger finger of the strong hand OUTSIDE the trigger guard. When the slide reaches back, the chambered round will fly out of the ejection port and land on the ground. If i were a betting man, i'd say the agent had his finger in the trigger guard while attempting to rack the slide and squeezed the trigger while making the hand movements causing the firearm to discharge. He needs to go back to firearms training.
Also, whenever you're in firearms training, or showing how to handle a firearm, you never use "live" rounds. You always use training rounds that don't have a live primer and powder in the case. The bullet is usually orange in color. This guy screwed everything up.

No doubt. The only time i've ever used live rounds in the military is when we're firing on the range. All other times, we either used dummy rounds, or if were on ex, blank rounds. I wouldn't even want to use blank rounds for showing people how to use a weapon. I was actually on the range this weekend firing live rounds. Passed all my Personal Weapons tests for the C7 rifle! rock:

Probably because hes still a DEA agent and he could get a call at any time needing him somewhere. Im sure when getting a call youre going to want a loaded weapon. Crack dealers dont throw rocks ya know.

Unless you're talking about an assault weapon, it's called a "magazine", not a "clip".
The bottom line is he should've been using a training gun with dummy bullets. Thats what most law enforcement personnel demonstrate with.

That may be the case in the Uk but not here in the states. We have orange rubber tipped bullets with no powder and a dead primer.
