Where are your facts. The national debt doesnt matter when your National Product is the size of the United States. Did Reagan have speed bumps - certainly. That 10% unemployment rate during 83 was killer - but those 5%-7's during the majority of his presidency sure were sweet.

For all the hand-wringing and historical rewritting, the United States is not and hasnt been in "trouble" since 1930 and the passage of the New Deal. Get the fuck over it.

Do you have any clue as to what state this country was in prior to Reagan taking office? Much of what you sited was reprocussions of the late seventies and early eighties. We were in the more heated periods of the cold war, the economy was shit, gas was having to be rationed, the military was severly underfunded and outdated compared to the Russians, and terrorism was really starting to gain a foot hold in the world. You must take the whole picture, not just some excerpts from a text.

Education ISNT federally controlled noob. We have these things called GRANTS. GRANTS are given in many different flavors: block grants, grant-in-aid, etc. The Federal Gov. being the most powerful level of gov. gives cash to the states to create and fund programs the US gov wants. The GIVE money. They dont create the programs. Every state has its OWN education program.
