ps 3.0 does NOTHING differently from 2.0 in terms of graphics. The only difference is its more efficient and does it faster. Saying that though the farcry ps 3.0 patch pretty much wrecked the 6800 ultras performance in that game, the 6800 is too slow to use ps3.0 properly despite all nvidias hype about it being something important. Its like having a new tnt2 ultra with 32 bit colour, then you realise the cards too slow to utilise it properly, in other words a useless checkbox feature that got implemented too early.

The Unreal dev team said themselves that the 6800 could play it smoothly. Plus there is still a year and half (or more) of optimizations to be done.
The lowered performance of the 6800U in FarCry 1.3 is bullshit. It didn't add any visual quality, so the performance just went up. If you are talking about HDR, who cares. It's way too over done and looks like shit. I'd like to see a X800 even try to do OpenEXR HDR.
I'd rather have the full beauty of the Unreal 3 at 1024x768 than that bastardized version that the PS2.0b will have. U3 will use way more than PS2.0's 512(?) instruction lines. Hell I wouldn't be suprised if they used all 65,535 in PS3.0.

May be able to play it smoothly but there is still a shitload of work to be done to the engine, Tim Sweeny was quoted as saying for max details the game would require a graphics card with a gig of ram, so the 6800 ultra may be running it smoothly at 30fps or whatever but thats nowhere near the max quality settings.
As for hdr, it blows end of story, its like some kinda blurred lighting effect but if you were to listen to nvidia fans over on hardocp forum you'd think it was more akin to the second coming of jesus. So i'll drop my framerate by half just so i can have some retarded unrealistic looking lighting effects? where do i sign? oOo:
And seeing as its a direct 3d game most likely the next radeon card will run it better than the next nvidia card, thats usually the way in d3d apps with ati having an edge.

Real nice. Could you imagine what games will look like in 10 yrs from now?
What i want is a "virtual reality" game where you wear some sort of eye shades and you have to move your body to make the character move. That'll take care of some of the fat asses who sit around playing games all day.
The world is my urinal

x850xt-pe is basically the fastest of those by a small amount in d3d usually, geforce 6800 ultra is a bit faster in opengl games.
x850xt-pe is most expensive of the bunch.
Of those x800xt is probably the cheapest followed by 6800 ultra.

I'd get the X800XL if anything. $350 for 10% less performance than the top of line.
