Average, patriotic America: France is a bad idea.

oh, ok.

That reminds me of New Orleans, they say that the black communities weren't helped but it was really the poor communities, which just happened to be black.

I don't get what you guys are making a controversy out of this. It's hardly about race at all. Why would you call it something its not?

North Africans are of multiple races anyway, Arab and African. The thing is there are white kids involved too. The thing they all have in common is there socio-economic status.

It seems to be Americans that are pushing the idea that it's a race riot....Which is amusing to me. You just want the French to be as racist as your country historically is. While there is alot of racial tension I just don't think its as prominent as it is in the U.S, and from what I've read and heard I wouldn't say it is the main reason for the rioting at all.

I was watching a few interviews on tv with some of the kids that were involved in the earlier rioting and they claimed that their anger was at the fact that they couldn't get employed - They went on to say that the prejudice generally came after they told them where they lived. That doesn't sound like a race issue to me.

They (the rioters) are being discriminated against because of geography? I thought they lived in France. The suburbs of Paris and such. I see this as a race issue because if it were happening here in America it would be a race issue. People of color against the establishment. It's ironic that a few weeks ago the French newspapers were calling us racist because of a hurricane, and now their country is burning because of their xenophobic nature.

On a side note, it's spring in NZ. Is the weather nice?

I enjoyed the episode of South Park where Cartman punched Token, the only black guy in the school and had to go to juvy because of it being a hate crime.

And then the boys went to the government to appeal and proved that all crimes are hate crimes and just because it had to do with race doens't make it any different and the government was the problem in why we are making humans to be different based on colour.

they aslo had an episode where they wanted to change the flag, it portraid (sp?) a black man being hung and the kids didnt see it as a racist thing just as a violent thing.

BTT all I have seen is the French allowed a bunch of immigrants (Muslum and Africans), promosed them futures, put them in one area and reniged on thier promisses. So this pissed them off and they rioted. Riots are the stupidest things you can do, what good comes of me burning my neighbors house and they burn mine?

Im surprised France hasnt surrendered yet freak:

If it were primarily a race issue, don't ypou think they would have been turned away before they even got asked where they're from? The French haven't got much of a history of prejudice, so the media won't play up that side of it - But even still it's not in the minds of most of the rioters like it is in the blacks of the ghettos in the U.S....

The French ghettoes are on the outskirts of the cities and towns.

...and I dunno what season it is - But the weather has been half shit and half okay. Must be spring. freak:
