If Saddam DID have these weapons - How come he didn't use them when the U.S was on his doorstep? If he's so untrustworthy and cutthroat, don't you think he would have done something when he knew the jig was up?
He had all that time do something to the U.S between the gulf wars, and he didn't really do anything - I guess that's why people didn't feel threatened enough by him to go to war...
...and if you say "But he's a DICTATOR!" Then just think to yourself how many other oppresive regimes are in power, that the U.S has just ignored. Look at africa.
I could pose you with a similar question: Why do you trust your own government so much?
Don't you think having that much power and money isn't threatening at all?

If he used the weapons against us, it would have made the entire world angry at him and his country. It would never have been able to defend himself in a trial like he is trying to do now. He would have had even more enemies than he does now. And as for why I trust my own government: They haven't given me a reason not to, and it's ridiculous that you would even put them in the same light as a government like Saddam Hussein's.
As for Africa. You are absolutely right. Personally, I feel that the only way we can really help Africa is to destroy their dictator regimes. You can't keep pumping money into the continent and hope it will heal itself. THere needs to be infrastructure and government foundation laid before anything will work, and I'm all for trying to help establish that, even if it takes military presence.
