although I would really love to be a grunt and do all the harder work, if I join the regs I will apply for a scholarship (army pays me £500 a term at college and £1000 a year at university and then £3000 on arrival at Sandhurst) and go to RMA Sandhurst.
If I join TA, I might do Full Time Reserve Service (you basically become a reg for 6 months) but I probably won't go in for commision.
Then (don't laugh) after a few years in TA or regs, if I want a new challenge, if I feel I'm mentally and physically fit enough, I will go for SAS

416k a year for a colonel, gosh it's good to know are tax dollars aren't wasted. I wish I would have known that when I was younger, would have done ROTC, and be a rich man today.
