ASE is a bloody magic wand compared to GS.

FFS you can control your server, access rcon, kick people with one click of the mouse and always keep an eye on what's going on.

GS just helps you find the "SERVER IS FULL" screen.

LOL - If you guys like ASE so much, why dont you pay for it. $30 for a lifetime memebership. Maybe then they could compete with gamespy. I doubt EA even knows who ASE is. Anyone here ever heard of netscape???

Oh yeah, GS does force connect and monitor servers. My free version of ASE would never do that. It just told me the registered version would do it. I think ASE finally figured out that if the free version was too good, no one would buy the full version. The free version is getting dumbed down.

Pest I dunno what version of ASE you're using, but FORCE CONNECT has always been a feature in ASE. And the thing is you SHOULD be using the latest ASE if you check un AUTO-updates.

ASE is just so much less razzle and dazzle and gets right to it. And no, I'm not going to pay for a utility that I dont have to, and that functions MORE than adequately in the Shareware version. I think you are going to be hard pressed to find many agreeing positions on this forum for using Gamespy of ASE, simply because of the ease of use ASE presents. Who knows, maybe they will have to impliment some restrictions in the future, but for now they are on my good side.

Ed - you are right about the force connect - I meant the monitor feature is what I couldnt access for free. I phrased that poorly. I got the updates regularly for ASE when I used it. I have agreed repeatedly that ASE is more user friendly, at least for the first weeks. I was considering buying it and replacing GS, until EA made it worthless.

Good luck guys.

This poll is meant to show EA that their paying customers want a choice. Not what is better then the other. I for one would not want to see GS go away for the people who really like using GS. I would rather use ASE. I love ASE, I know people who love GS. I want to be able to chose what I use to find a server width.

I know when I first started out, I used GAMESPY cause I didnt know what the hell I was doing. There was ALWAYS someone in the chat there, and you got some good information. Now that I "get it", I dont need to use it, or know where to go to get information. GAMESPY is good for folks who want a "community" environment prebuilt for them, and is also useful for clans and such to meet.

For those though that really dont need all the extra bells and whistles, ASE is a preferred alternative. We need Gamespy simply because most companies are more comfortable with a utility with all the flash that will showcase their upcoming products. I can only imagine the type of traffic these people are getting from the 100,000 folks who have downloaded THE SIMS ONLINE BETA (man I got some wild photos - one word - LESBIANS!!!), and have checked out all the OTHER things that Gamespy has to offer. ASE cant offer that, and I dont think wants to. For that reason they wont receive the type of support that Gamespy gets.

This also doesnt take into account the amount of people who visit Forumplanet which is TONS more I'm sure than Gamespy - ALOT MORE.

Well I use ASE to join the Spearhead servers I go into, but it wasn't easy to setup and it still won't show all the servers, but I only go into two and thats all I need. ASE is sooooo much better for us that run servers and have rcon ofr servers. If I am not mistaken it is us admins that pay for dedicated servers that really keep this game alive. I know I wouldn't go and play in some kids server he just put up to play for a few hours. If this thread doesn't help EA notice that the people that not only pay for the game, but pay for a server each month use ASE and not GS then then they are all fools. I not only play MOHAA, but I have bought my wife Sims and she wants more Sims games from EA and I play PS2 and XBox. I have always been a huge fan of EA for all of my systems , but will stop buying EA games till they do something for the players of there games and not just for there pocketbooks signing big deals with GS.Sorry Madden, but no more. I guess I'll be finding other sports games to play then EA sports.
