dont forget about the shit they (french) started in vietnam that the ignorant americans (department of defense, president, staff) tried to clean up. yes im american, but the whole vietnam war seemed like a waste of human lives to stop the spread of communism. i didnt live in that era so i dont know how americans on the homefront felt about the the threat of communism, but after the french got their asses handed to them was it really necessary for the americans to intervene?
back to the original topic, i dont hate the french, actually americans just have the perception that they smell.

Funny that some americans hate the french even though they contributed a LOT to america's freedom from british rule.

The French contributed a significant bit to Americas independence (although their Neccesity IS questionable), however does that excuse the societies behavior. Hardly. It isn't a sterotype that "real" French - or the older set - have a palpable bias towards Americans. But then what country doesnt. It's like America is the LA Laker - loved in your home city, despised everywhere else you go.

Well, I guess in the Revolutionary war, your army was using pitchforks instead of french muskets. It's not like america isn't arrogant either.

I think you'll find that Americans are more humble than anything else. There ARE some real assholes, but compared to other countries that quotient is HORRIBLY high.
The reason most folks see an "arrogance" on our part, is that they assign some of our "standards" as being arrogant and carefree - like simply because our lives are better off than others that that immediately makes us stuck up pricks; a notion that is furthered by international media.
Simple fact of the matter is that most Americans would bend over BACKWARDS for other folks in other countries - how many folks from foriegn countries could travel abroad and REALLY have to worry about a viable threat to their lives than an American.
Long story short, you really have to live here (in America) to understand how little hubris we have, and simply read foreign news to see how mean-spirited folks can be to us.

Yeah without the speedy french surrender in 1940 we wouldn't have needed to worry about D-DAY. Don't forget about the frenchies in algiers who got toasted by the yanks! I love England, fucking frenchies aided those damn bastard militia men who wouldn't comform to the rules of war![/code]

And how do you figure that? Were japan gonna not bother with pearl harbor because the french put up some resistance? The germans had almost half their total number of tanks attacking france, its little wonder they had to surrender.

...what anti-American "judgements" do you think Australians are making?
I think it's more like we are getting criticized for being to closely alligned with the USA,
like, all our Asian neighbours hate us now...but fuck them,
I mean... the nerve of us...pickin' on their terrorists like that... hake:
