Right hake: ....You have heard that 16 of 19 european countries support us did'nt you? and England, Australia so on. We've fought other "un-popular" wars before and they did'nt turn out to be fatal for us. Your abit to cynical old. Oh and the reason France is'nt behind us (who gives a shit it if they are or not?) is *drumroll* OIL, yes thats right oil, they have huge contracts with Saddam for oil and if we go to war those get flushed.

Why exactly? Oil prices & inflation?
Let's look at it this way.
The main expenditure for the war will be on logistics and since the war probably won't last as long as the Gulf because Saddam has less troops etc then it shouldn’t kill the U.S. It will probably last as long as the war in Afghanistan and that didn't cripple the U.S did it?
The U.S has a sh&t load of missiles with a shelf life of only 10 years or so. So blasting a few of those off isn’t going to make that much difference to the U.S taxpayer anyway because they have already been purchased. The weapons industry will need more ammunition etc that will create money won't it? Since the war probably won’t last that long the oil prices won’t spiral out of control for too long. When its all over we can probably strike a better bargain with the new iraqi puppet government over oil prices than we did with Saddam..

The U.K. can basically give a blank cheque to the USA because of all the miltary technology we get from you.
Imagine if Tony Blair told Bush to get stuffed. No more Stringray torpedoes, no more Submarine technology, no more trident missiles, no more Tomahawk's, no more Sidewinders etc..
This is the thing that people don't realise, if Tony didn't follow the U.S policy then it would cripple the alliance and both countries would suffer. The only two countries that give a damn and can actually do anything about policing the world is the U.K and the USA. Can you imagine what would happen if the world wasn't run by countries that supported freedom etc? Imagine if China was top dog...

That gets a... biggrin: Big fuckin deal, two countries whoop dee do, we have plenty of other large countries still very friendly to us, and do you really thing this Franco-German alliance could or would do anything to us or impose sanctions? If so you get a biggrin: . In all likelyhood France and Germany will get onboard when they see the war going bad.

Poland is one of americas best allies, they support going to war I believe but they don't like Bush. anyways, I don't see what war would accomplish, what harm is being done right now without war?

We don't need Europe's support. If you are talking from an economical perspective, they need American money(i.e. selling us their products)far more then we need to buy them. Germany is using the "dead clients don't pay" rationilization. Iraq still owes them millions of dollars. France. . .well, I'll be kind. France sold Iraq paraphernalia to build their first nuclear reactor, which the Isrealis destroyed with a surgical airstrike at Osirak in 1981, so the French are straddling the fence on this, like they have throughout history.
I think Bush will do what he needs to do. I think, if for nothing else, he will bide his time to let the Europeans be satisfied, as if they ever are.

Germans are strongly opposed to war, they will not sway. I can tell there will be a war, but I do not see how this will benefit the economy (along with bush's idiot tax cuts). Sodamn insane and Fidel castro are going to live forever, doesnt it seem that way?

and you say we don't need Europe? hah that is poppycock, just wait until the EU gets more members next year and is even stronger than ever. I can see a great revolution in China in the near future also, and whose side will they be on?
