and what i ment by how my dad said it didnt look like Vietnam is that the scenary looks like it was shot in a forest in NA, not in Vietnam. I mean, in Vietnam, it was dense with tress, plants, and that long grass
" Hey...when we film this Movie, let's do it exactly where it was Filmed, and I'm sure the Vietnamese Government won't care."
Dude, it's a movie. It looked like Vietnam to me. Vietnam has a melting pot of Terrain...........Again, watch Hamburger Hill. I think they have a Level in Vietcong just like it.
Yes you are right, Vietnam has triple, double, and single canopy terrain, all which harvest different plant species and geographical features.
WE KNOW ALREADY. anyways, I loved the Sergeant Major in the film. lmao.
"If any of you call me grandpa, I'll fuckin kill you!"
or
"Good Morning sir."
"What the fuck makes it a god damn good morning." -errr somethin' like that. biggrin:
did you see the deleted scenes on the DVD. Apparently the old guy was scared that way (from what i remembered, correct me if im wrong) that he was a drill instructor or something, and he ordered all his men out of barracks with all their medals they have evr won. One guy comes out with no medals on. Old guy (then young) yells at him to go back and get them on. That guy comes back naked, with 2 Congressional Medal of Honors around his neck. And that's what made him all grumpy
We were soldiers was accurate for the part of the war that it portrayed. It looked like it could have been filmed near where I live but with hills (which is basically where it was filmed, duh). But being a film, I understand that they have to take those liberties often.
Other than that, the movie is average at best. It started good, but the actual in country footage is only so-so.
And Apocalypse Now was filmed in the phillipines, not vietnam.
We Were Soldiers wasn't that bad. Ok, it wasn't the most realistic...so what? It had some large battles and lotsa gore. It's a good popcorn movie. Not everyone HAS to be a military purist, do they?
