Thanks for the advice fellas. And Zap, you were talking about doing Marines before college. The thing is most of my family is expecting me to go to college first. Also I think it would be better to do college first anyway so at least if I get hooked with the marines I still have my education with me if I decide to get out one day and Im to old to go back to school. That PLC thing i was talking about i think is a great way to get the best of both worlds. You get the education during the school year and in the summer they train you to be a platoon leader in ground air or law. Then once your done with college you become a Lt. and can continue in the field you chose.

Marines is definitely the most difficult. I know that the air force, army, and navy all have the same basic training requirements though. Just to get into the marines, you have to be able to run a mile and a half in 12 mins, 5 pull ups, and i think the guy said 70-90 cruches. Also Cpl Eames, i am very fit. I do 400 sit ups a night, i can do 12 pull ups, 40 push ups, just i suck at running. I can do a mile in about 9 mins. Im gonna start running in the spring so hopefully ill be able to increase my performance. Im probably in the best shape of my life. I know the marines dont require sit ups anymore so i guess i shouldnt do those anymore. If i just run more ill be ready.

im cool with the drill sgt. for rotc marines, he's a beast and he's kinda cool, but at the same time he is a tool and he gets 0 females...


but military service is an easy way to get a LOT of power, and as zen said it will be the experience of a lifetime for you (as long as thats your thing, in my opinion), but if you do rotc, its true and everyone around here knows it, you will get rocked by early morning daily pt.

Girls at my school like rotc guys, but there is a group of guys in the rotc that are like your saying I dont know why they are in, 1 guy is fat, short, wears big round geeky glasses, never showers, and always thinks hes the best and pretends like hes fighting off all the Iraqis at school with his invisible "LKaser Gun".
There arent many girls n though.

My family pretty much dropped dead when I signed the enlistment papers. All of my brothers and sisters went to college and i'm the first to ever serve in the military out of my brothers and sisters.

My best advice to you is to do what YOU think is right. In the long run you'll be glad you made that decision. Just remember, the Marines pay for 100% for college while you're in and when you get out you get like $40,000 to continue your education.

The part that I see wrong is that the army, air force and navy have the same basic training requirements. That's not totally correct. The ARMYs and NAVYs basic training is 8 weeks, while the Air Force is 6 weeks long. Each basic training has thier own schedule and way of training thier recruits, that's what makes each branch unique. The ARMY is generally harder the other two.

But I can say you are correct about the first comment that you made. Marine Corps boot camp is harder then any other military branchs basic, that's a FACT happy:

I know a girl who yo uwould think is as dumb as a brick but she got liek a 1560 on her sat's Anyways. A marine called me once, By the end of him talking about the time I told him I just wanted to hear what he had to say and had no interest in joing he slammed hte phone down and it hurt my ear

Basic Training :

Marine Basic is famous , I don't think I have to get into that.

Army Basic is very demanding , you will do all the obsticle corses and fire weapons , camp out , field exercises , March EVERYWHERE. Not as intence as the Marines but you will still be training to be a ground force combat warrior.
It is not to be taken lightly.


Navy Basic is less demanding , but has alot of psycological training. Swimming , survival at sea , and such. I am not too familliar with it .I had a friend go Navy but I have no actual knowledge beyond what he told me.


Air Force Basic is not very demanding pysically. You will still run every other morning and do other exercises the days between. This is universal.
But in the Air Force you will be in class most of the time. Learning what I consider some very complex and high tech stuff.

But if you wanted to fire all kinds of weapons and learn all kinds of cool shit you would join the marines though right? Isnt every marine supposed to be a rifleman first? If I had joined the military I would have wanted to be a tank commander and have a picture of Patton and Rommel in my turret.
