I don't know what you consider good soloing, then. Randy didn't play with the blistering speed of a Petrucci or Malmsteen, nor did he go off on 10 minute existentialist-type instrumentals like Satch or Vai. What he DID do was solo to match the song he was playing. It was him, a Les Paul (or that cool polkadot V), and a wall of Marshalls. Randy's solos were works of pure art, man; heartfelt, sometimes acrobatic, and powerful. I don't see how you could possibly say that he wasn't a great solo player.
Id rather listen to the solo from "Mr. Crowley" or "Diary of a Madman" than Yngwie Malmsteen play 250 notes per second or Steve Vai play a 4 neck guitar with his cock or something.
I know it's opinion, and I'm not attacking you. I'd just never heard anyone say negative things about Randy Rhoads before. It's a new thing for me.
