Did you get that from the atheists cliff notes.
There absolutely was corruption with in the church. It was run by men, and men as a rule can be corrupted. The catholic FAITH was built on the teachings of the old and new testaments. The corruption stemmed from the political machine the church became. Power and wealth have been corrupting since the dawn of man.
Martin Luther didnt give up the faith, only the politics.
The spanish inquisistion (note the word spanish- it wasnt the whole church) and the crusades were both the result of the abuse of power.[/quote:001a7]Exactly. you all have to get through your thick skulls that I don't have posters in my room showing priests of the 1500's torturing people. I follow the works of the catholic faith, not the wrongful actions. Pope John Paul II did appologize to the world (and jews for not helping them during wwii) for it's past sins. I still don't understand how you all can call my an evil idiot blindly following works when I clearly state that i don't in any way agree with much of the catholic church's actions in the past.

[quote="Short Hand":0a07a]no. I don't have or have ever used cliff notes. We can get into popes, yes popes, poisoning rivals, executing people who were against there will, Marrying their daughters, then annuling them. rich Italian family's playing something that was supposed to be serious. All in a days work of od.. would you say ?[/quote:0a07a]
Again, politics and abuse of power. That was never preached at mass as the best way to follow the faith.
Your assumptions that all catholics are bad is about as insulting as me saying all atheists are a cross between bevis and butthead and dee snyder.

dont forget Henry Tutor. He was the King of englang Aka king henry. Anyways he married a spanish princess and low and behold he fell out of love with her or w/e and he couldnt kill her cause hten france and spain would kill england he couldnt divorce her because the church forbid it so guess what he did. He cut away from the church. Created his own reliegin called the church of england I think over heres its the angelian church or something, divorced his wife remarried, had a child wife was unfaithful so he killed her. Had some more wives and kids but the one that matters is the one who became queen elizabeth I. yes some of us bloody americans know history. I know thats not 100% historically accurate but it is a basic sumericzation of what happened. Also shows corruption in the church.
there also the little thing about how during the years of the plague you could pay a priest or someone to get your loved ones out of purgatory, or even buy your own way into heaven before you died. if thats not corruption I dont know what is.

Dude!! Didn't you read the Halo Universe 101?! It clearly said that we were outnumbered. This will make us have more numbers in the future so we won't be overwhelmed by our future alien enemy! I changed my mind about over-populating, do it, and we will be victorious in ther galexy!!

Precisely. I'm not too well-versed on the mechanics of it all, but it seems to me that this stem cell business is the key to curing alot of major ailments.
Without wanting to harp on, this is the primary thing that annoys me about the religious groups protesting against this. They're dictating whether people they've never met before, and don't necessarily subscribe to the same God as them, are allowed to have access to medical care that can improve their quality of life. For my money, that is just intolerance, and should be fought as vehermantly as possible.
Anyways, that's just my two cents.

Religion has always been a thorn in humanity's side. Of course, the majority
being fucking retarded, we'll never get rid of it. On topic, incredible discovery
by every scientist and others involved in the endeavor: with results like this,
it will become increasingly difficult for politicians to do more idiotic bans that
accomplish nothing more than slow down human technological progress. Yes!
