[quote="Jimbo@":107b0]EDIT: That book sounds like your typical soccer mom argument. "Lets blame all our problems on these singers and movie actors etc" Yes culture can have an influential factor but it looks like the book fails to assess the other important factors and denies to confront the more realistic problem of America.[/quote:107b0]i wouldn't call it a soccer mom book at all. There are alot of good points made in it. Most of the people on the list you probably wouldn't recognize by name (thats how I am when i read the list). Then he'll say something like, "John Doe...say it's 1am in the morning and you see some nutcase on TV waving his arms in the air claiming the government has free money for you. Oh yeah, he's wearing that damn suite witha bunch of question marks and exclamaition points on it. Yeah, you know the guy."

don't judge it until you read it. that's all I have to say. He puts those names and pretty much uses them to represent the problem.

...Totally agree....and also, Short Hand and Pyro are both troublemakers too. You only have to read this thread to see that. Short Hand turns an argument out of nothing, about something entirely trivial and pointless - The fact that he is actually wrong is what makes it amusing though. Stewart's style of interviewing, if it wasn't intended to make people laugh would be considered 'Childish.'
Mix the above quote with a troublemaking attitude and you have an example of a annoying little upstart, with no logical arguing agenda. There is no intention to seek any kind of conclusion or final point in these arguments he starts.
LOL, such pathetically transparent creatures.[/quote:a3c99]
I haven't even made a post here yet...where in reading this thread show im a troublemaker.

I was talking about Short Hand when I referenced this thread....But my point was that you and him work the same way, and instead of arguing points you tend to just troublemake by inciting flames and baiting people for namecalling simply because you both believe you're already on the moral high ground. Keep that shit in offtopic.

i'm on person number 50. He uses these people as representations of social issues. When you think of the top 100 people that ruin america you may ask where are the economists? I view the list more as a list of social issues. He lists the people in general categories. He goes through people with gangsta rap, conservative talk shows, certain black leaders pushing any kind of self responsibility out the window, uber-liberal college educators, feminists, rediculous court cases, etc.
I really like this book. Don't call me a stupid kid that can't think for himself. I agree with much of the points he tries to make in this book.

Sorry but i don't read literature that is written from a democrat written about republicans and vice versa. Its more than obvious that some one who picks up the book is going to agree and not give both sides of the issue. I'll give an example and i won't even use an obvious one like a democrat ...
Rick and Kathy Hilton are owners of the Hilton Hotels and billionares. They are enemies of the state because they are big business, Kathy has a lame reality show, poor wages for staff, money hogs, blah blah blah (not to mention they brought Paris into this world). So what? They created a hotel business that provided enough class by beating out the competition with luxury hotels at lower prices. Wouldn't you do the same? Isn't that capitalism? As for the mine drowning reality crap they pump out ... i think they are the least at fault for this. There are worse things out their that plague television and our views on them (IE Real World, Joe Millionare, etc).
