In Quebec, it's completely different.
We have
-École primaire (don't know how to call it in english, let's say Primary School)
-École secondaire (High School)
-C.E.G.E.P (a kind of college for 2 years between high school and university, you can choose Sciences or not, Technical if you don't wan't to go to University etc..)
-University
We start "Primary School" at around 6 years old and it last for 6 years, Then we go to high school for 5 years (It's called high school 1,2,3... and not 7,8,9...)
So usually, we graduate from high school at 17 years old, and if we don't loose time, we get to university Ã* 19.
I did not went to school since I graduated from high school in 1997. I worked, and I'm not happy with the kind of jobs I can get with only a high school. So I'm going back to school this fall. What is great is that when you are over 21 and did not went to school for at least 2 years, you can get in University without going to "C.E.G.E.P". You only have to complete "class??" required for the program you want to get in. So I won't have to do Philosophy and other stuff not required to get in Mechanical engeenering
I'm going back to school on september 3.
