[quote="M@D CHILD":502aa]There is nothing wrong with camping if your on the defending side.

But........onto n00bs now, why do n00bs after a lucky kill just stand and stare at a medi-pack thats only about 5ft infront of them? how stupid if your low on health why don't the dumb n00b just pick it up, instead of staring at it.[/quote:502aa]

they're so excited about getting a kill that they can't find the W key biggrin:

Then what do you use for all the other commands, like croutch, walk, lean, reload? How do you voice spam? Do you change weapons with the number assignments or with scrollball or both. With WSAD, all the other keys I use are still within easy reach. Do you have those programmed to mouse keys?

i use,

up arrow = walk forward

down arrow = walk backwards

left arrow = strafe left

right arrow = strafe right

num pad 0 (ins) = crouch

right Ctrl = jump

left mose button = lean left

right mouse button = lean right

side mouse button= fire

mouse wheel up = zoom sniper scope

mouse wheel down = zoom out

num pad 1= nades

num pad 4= previous weapon

num pad 5 = holster weapon

End = reload

i consider that to be the best key set-up around, all within easy reach. cool:

There were a couple of instances the past few days I was accused of camping.

In Remegan I was heading to the intersection with the wagon/crates when a teammate was blown apart by an Allied grenade. So I hoof it back and take cover behind the wall enclosing the yard and wait. Sure enough, two Allied soldiers come running around the corner and two shots with the sniper rifle later they're dead. What does one of the dead say to me? "Campers are losers, bane!" One, you have no idea how long I'd been there and two, you're dead and I'm alive. Go figure that that makes me a loser.

Another was in Stalingrad. I noticed the same two people were always in the same room at the same windows. I took a defendable position with a good sight line to those windows and it was like shooting fish in a barrel. After 20 or so kills I was accused of camping because they had not been able to kill me. Uh, hello? What exactly is it you think you're doing? I just happened to exploit their actions a little better than they did mine.

The sniper rifle is the only weapon you can really camp with for any length of time and still get kills. That's what snipers do. Occasionally you get some "locational awareness" about an opponent and you can wait for them to run by and MG 'em in the back. If these things make me a "camping loser" so be it. I'll see ya at the score screen, Forrest...

It makes sense, Im just stubborn and refuse to learn a new layout. The defualt works pretty well for me.

Has anyone else considered those gaming pad/keyboard - the one that only has about 15 (bigger) keys specifically for gaming? Those look interesting.

Bane,

It's a very fine line, friend. If those two guys had time to run down the block, then my opinion is that they're fair game. They have situational awareness; they just feel like they don't or shouldn't "need" to use cover, they're loss.

On Stalingrad, the way you say "like shooting fish in a barrel", (has anyone tried that? is it as boring as it sounds?), makes me wonder just how close to there spawning you were hitting them. I figure if they've had a chance to take cover and don't , then they're fair game, or if you hit them after they've spawned and while they are trying to find your position, ok. But hitting them before their feeties hit the ground, or before they can get there bearings wouldn't be kosher. JMO.

I have to say that I even found myself doing it on omaha last night. I was hitting them in the boats from the bunker and realized that I was spawn killing. Very embarrassing so I let them come down the ramp before I shot them biggrin:
As for snipers in general, I find them to be an endless source of annoyance and frustration. You guys are bastards!! biggrin: That's also why I respect, admire, and usually enjoy watching the actions of them. Well, the good ones anyway.
Man, all my 2 cents' are adding up to some change. I need another job, lol

priest39,

In Remegan I never saw them before they turned the corner. I saw my teammate eat a grenade and figured they would be heading my way. The sniper rifle is not a close-quarters weapon and the pistol is no match against their MG's so I pulled a 180 and went for cover.

In Stalingrad I wasn't spawn killing. I would watch them run into the room and take their positions in the same windows over and over again. I have no idea where they were spawning but they must have liked the view from those windows.

Am I at fault? Are my tactics cheap? I always try to play honorably and thought I was in these instances. Ok, ok..the Stalingrad scenario was a little cheap... biggrin:

I totally disagree. Nothing wrong with the Stalingrad scenerio because if they didn't learn the first time that makes them all the more "fair game." Camping all around is a tactic that people should learn. However, spawn-killing on the other hand is somethig that will get you thrown off my server. If people don't have a chance to retaliate, that's what makes it unfair. But if you're at least giving them the opportunity to get their bearings and move around, then they're fair game and need to learn to hide better.

Thing about Omaha that really gets me - Allied snipers hangin' out in the boats. Last night I was Axis with apprx. 11 people on the server, half being allied. I only saw one ally ever make an attempt at the 88's, the rest of them were camped in the boats trying to shoot Axis. Now, this makes sense if the Axis was spawnkilling, but they weren't. 6 guys on Axis side, and three were watching one gun, 2 on the other and 2 guys sniping the shingle. Spent 15 minutes shooting the same guy as he made attempt after attempt to blow the guns.

I use something very similar to M@D. I use Up down left right and the numpad. My "NEIN!" bind is the Home key

That's not camping, any military mind would call that "setting up a kill zone", that is an high traffic area that you can scan and engage enemies on while being in cover.

Camping is like when someone hides behind a door in a low traffic area with an STG of Thompson at the ready and kills whoever was stupid enough to walk in. They end up with something like 10-2 when those who set up a proper kill zone can get 30+ kills.

Kill Zones are one of the problems with MOHAA. There aren't any that can be effectively defended with just a sniper rifle. They all have either multiple entrances or just one big enough to drive a truck through. BF1942 is a better game for the sniper. There are a lot of remote areas where players normally wouldn't go where a sniper can be very effective. Of course they negated this somewhat by giving you 10 friggin' bullets at a time. Who would go into battle with 10 bullets?!?!
