My stand is on a small hill at the entrance to the swamp. We saw a ton of turkeys out there as well and it was bow season....but we had no bows. was strictly a work detail. The stands we built are made from pressure treated wood with chains at the top and buckles to latch them tight. Weve been doing this for a looooooooooooong time and have never had an issue. Some stands we built 8 years ago are still in great shape. We had to repair a few though...ill also have a portable with me if we decide to go deep into the property. Many people we know cut corners then cry when they dont get the big bucks...Ill take my bag limit and post pics....hoping to get a big 12 pointer we saw during blackpowder....

What are you hunting with? I have a Remington 870 Supreme Magnum. We keep seeing prints in the mud of a huge deer but we can't find it. I'll be sure to post pics also.
