[quote="Grim_Reaper":513bc]before i never really thought that stem cells were such a big deal because they never showed anything like this. now it should definitely become legal!![/quote:513bc]
stem cell research is not illegal in the united states. this was a common train of arguement by the kerry camp. bush has given more to embryonic stem cell research than other other world leader. He does not federallly fund reseacrhing stem cells that werent already dead or going to die. And this only applies to embryonic stem cell research. He fully supports spinal, umbilical, and adult stem cell research.

Dagnabit! You beat me to it. the debate in the election was not about whether it should be legal but about whether the federal government should subsidize it with tax dollars. Isn't President Bush is the only president to sign legislation allowing it? Is this technology so new that President Clinton didn't have a chance to do something with it? Why bash the current administration for not doing enough, when past administrations did nothing. And, dagnabit, if your gonna bash somebody at least get your facts straight. Spinal cord research is legal.

I hope that there are solid restrictions on stem cell research. When you get big money and dead embyros together it is a recipe for disaster. Keep the research going but keep very tight reins on it while it is going on. This is not a religious point of view but a common sense one.

the only reason bush has done more is because this type of thing was unheard of in the terms of other presidents.
