Back then to us 2d graphics looked really good because proper 3d games had yet to appear. 2d was good but very limited in what you could do with it.
It seems the more we do, the more we fuck it up.
That's what it seems to you.
^ I second that. I can't see at all how games are getting worse.

It's easier to entertain someone if all they know is a few bleeping dots on a screen. Nowadays there is far more to a game, so that means there are more things to "get right." Having said that, I can't go back to those older games because they're not up to the standard of what the good games that come out today are of.

That's where Pyro is alot different to most of us. It seems he can play bleeping dot games and be fufilled.

If you are an FPS-genere person then you might side with me on this:

Let's say you throw a grenade and it blows up, but instead of an amazing sprite/special effect, you get a cheezy explosion that looks like an explosion-coloured mushroom..

example:

Again...it's all a balancing act of having top notch graphics and gameplay to back it up. To assume which is more important is like asking you to choose a pair of legs or a pair of arms, both are needed to compliment one another.

I'll say it like everyone else.

If the game is good, there is no need for superb graphics. However, graphics do play a big role in a game. I selected yes.
