I would rather everyone listen to what makes them happy rather than try to prove how much they know and everyone sucks because they listen to some shit no one else listens too.

Just listen to what makes you happy, even if no one else has heard of/likes it.
Exactly, but... it seems the less known the artist the more 1337 it makes your musical preference here @ times. I am not saying they aren't good most of them kick ass... but it makes having a favourite artist who is mainstream a taboo here. loney:
I think the main reason i listen to mostly underground stuff is that its different. Its stuff that you can't find on a radio that usually surpasses them in some way. May it be lyrics, musicianship, or even shock value. You will NEVER hear a 20 minute Dream Theater song on the radio as you wouldn't hear Gwar - Fish Fuck. If you can be satisfied with on the radio, so be it. However, it doesn't hurt to try something new.[/quote:8ca46]

Especially with hiphop - ALL the good shit is 'Underground,' like I explained....Simply because most people are listening to 50 cent and The Game....And that's where the commercial, radio market is, because that's where all the money is.
It's not just about the most 'underground' artists that noone has heard of (Although for some it is, and I know a few of these types)...[/quote:8ca46]

Nas is underground ? I am not saying underground is "not good" but like I said, liking underground here seems to score 1337 points even if they underground artist is not that good.[/quote:8ca46]

Did I say Nas was underground? No. There you go jumping to conclusions again.

'All' was an exaggeration to prove a point. If you're going to follow me around the forums and try and nitpick at my posts for mistakes, at least question an actual fact I get wrong. Not an exaggeration that serves a purpose.

I believe the majority of good hiphop is on an independent label or is 'underground,' underground can only really be defined as not commercially viable.

Only a handful of people listen to hiphop around here and even less listen to it exclusively - So if you're making some kind of jab at me for listening to underground hiphop as if I think I'm "1337" for doing so, well, you're out of your league.
I try to scrutinise all hiphop that catches my ears, commercial or not, to make judgements like these. I don't just listen to underground to be cool, I actually believe the quality of music is better.....If you re-read my post about the state of hiphop today, I clearly explain why I think that.

....and naturally, I recognise there are shit underground artists, but to be honest, I would much rather listen to People Under The Stairs, Cali Agents, Lords Of The Underground, Mystik Journeymen, Little Brother and Mr Lif, than 50 cent, The Game, Lloyd Banks, lil' jon, chingy, or any of that other bullshit.
