So more nerdy questions.

http://usa.asus.com/products4.aspx?mode ... l2=15&l3=0

Looking at that, i have its so called 'predecesor' the A7N8X, and that thing is the prime example of rock solid reliablility.

I was also considering the A8N-SLi. Which is around $60 more.

I dont think i will be wishing i had gone the SLI route, because with my current setup:

ASUS A8V Deluxe
A64 3000+
1024 PC2100
Radeon 9000 Pro

Anything is really a stepup from this.

Im looking to pair that A8N5X with either a 6800GT/Ultra or 7800GT, 1024 PC3200 OCz Titanium series, and a A64 3700+

I guess my question would be does someone have the A8N5X, if so how does it run and is it stable and is it really worth it that i should pay for the A8N, which from some reviews, the reliablity of that board has been kinda flakey.

I promise this will be my last post regarding Mobo's beer:

well if you want a wholle new system.. although just upgrading your memory and video card would hold you over perfectly fine for a year or 2...

Some alternatives since i haven't had any experience with the Asus board:

Epox board, used in 2 build, very impressed
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813123236

Abit board, used in 1 build, impressed
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813127222

I would definately not choose a 6800 Ultra as far as the video cards are concerned. Just seems like a wast of $ since the 6800 GT is the same card just clocked slower (most 6800 GT's will over-clock to the same speeds as the Ultra). However since the 6800 GT's are 280-300.00 and the 7800GT's are 300-320.00 I would spend the extra $ and get a 7800GT. Don't forget to get a power supply thats up to the task as well. If $ is a concern I'd look at this FSP one:
