It was meant as a joke..if you don't notice but everyone who quotes TGB always says either thank you or thats what I was thinking almost like he is the master of opinion..plus didn't TGB like jeepers creepers 1 and 2? oOo: I remember you telling TGB to go commit suicide, nyck.. happy:

Like I said, movies dont have to try and "change the world" or "make a point" to be enjoyable. JEEPERS CREEPERS knew EXACTLY what it was - dumb quick fun. Sorry MACHETTE but I dont have to have my movies carry with them some silly "oh look how informed I am" weight to them. . .but hey, if name dropping TCG and SYRIANA get you some mad liberal art school pussy - go fucking nuts.

That still doesnt make the movie anything other than a plodding, boring mess. Great - third world countries are suffering under [inserthere]-epidemics, and being taken advantage of by ethically challanged multi-nats. Woohoo - you still could have had the same message and made it interesting.

Shit at least with JC - you got an ending worth the 2 hours spent dling.

Ah HA thats where we beg to differ. I spent 15 bucks on the dvd thinking it was good.

If I hadn't PAID for it maybe it would have been different

SYRIANA...as a basis of what a movie supposed to be...ENTERTAINMENT...was by far one of the worst movies of the year.

i totally agree with ed ... i dont think your taste in anything says a thing about your character / intelligence. I do think that if you tend to like every single socially aware / intellectual type of entertainment out at the moment then you are probably trying too hard to prove that you are a socially aware/ intelectual type.

the reason i like tcg had nothing to do with its intellictual plot, but with the 'love story'. i hated syriana, and munich and liked both of the jeepers movies.

Just because I like these movies suddenly makes it seem like I'm trying
too hard to be socially aware? What about taste in movies doesnt that affect anything? Please stop labelling me something I am not.

Although it was a rather interesting rebuttal. oOo:

I respect everyones taste in movies..I just could not understand Himmler's "to much talking" argument..was that supposed to mean less dialogue more action? That is what I was getting at in this thread. Fine, you guys enjoyed jeepers creepers 1 & 2 nothing wrong with that..surely it requires a different taste just like the constant gardener and syriana.

i didnt necessarily mean too much dialogue, i just meant imo the story was so unentertaining and when i entered the theater i had no idea what it was about and i just knew it had something to do with the middle east. with this, i thought that there would be some sort of action in it or war, not just one explosion at the beginning and thats that.

This thread has too much talking and not enough action/stunts.

I think it's more about the fact that he stated his reason for not liking it as "too much dialogue," he may not like the film for any other reason, because it could be crap (I stayed away from this one because personally I didn't think I'd enjoy it because it looked quite slow-moving), but if you say you don't like a movie solely because there is too much dialogue it leads people to believe that you can't keep up with the film and can't understand what its about - Therefore it becomes about personal ability to comprehend information, and not about taste....But I absolutely see what you're saying and I agree...I think if taste dictated personality, the world would be an entirely different place.

P.S - I kind of liked Jeepers Creepers, except that I thought the monster bird man dude thing wasn't as frightening as it could have been....I didn't like the second one because I disliked those fucking high schoolers and that main dude with the blonde hair, wat a fagit...

I MAY have liked this movie. . .if it were billed as a THRILLER. When I hear THRILLER - I dont neccesarily want "action" - but I do want to be taken on a rollercoaster. . .not lectured about the evils of globalization (unless - again - you make it interesting). Was nice to see KEIRA's tits - and if I remember her hairy British puss too. . .I'll have to check that scene back out.

I mean. . .take a look at a movie like THE INSIDER - no action, no tits, maybe some swear words, completely a movie with a message - but it still was a movie that didnt bore the shit outta me.

I hold the same ill-regard for GOOD NIGHT, GOOD LUCK. Just from what the fuck CLOONEY is blathering about I can already tell - another lecture in 95 minutes of movie (nevermind he only presents one side of the story).

In any case - TCG totally blows immersion factor. . .in what fucking world will RALPHE FIENNES get a bitch like KNIGHTLEY?

It was Rachel Weisz not Keira Knightley..just to clarify that. I always find myself mixing british actors up.

But I like your point about the insider, micheal mann really does know how to make good movies and I am sure Miami Vice will be superb. The insider really was something else.
